I would put in a SBC maybe a 383 with some 4.88 reverse cut dana 60,s before i spent money on a body lift. you are going to need hp more than lift.

i seriously dont get why everybody hates on body lifts so much. if you do it right and cover all the gaps they actually dont look bad at all. he asked a question. not to be flamed or laughed at. If he wants a body lift then more power to him, if he regrets it later than thats his problem, not anyone elses.

exactly. when he comes back bitchin about it then everyone can laugh at him. but i know alot of people runnin body lifts that are perfectly happy with them. if you mud ride alot then it makes it alot easier to wash.

Why dont you just get fiberglass fenders then you can clear the tire without a body lift.

Had a body lift on my s10. never had a problem. looks fine once you make your own gap guards. but yes they do mess with center of gravity. I do not recommend them if you do any offroading. BL is perfect for street queen rides. Also will look better with some step bars installed, covers the frame a bit. but keep in mind they can be dangerous

The problem with them is shown in those photos were the body is ripped off the frame.
Most of the time- Not going to have an issue....but if you get into an accident or have a sudden deceleration (mud bog or downhill grade on a trail) and can tweak the body side of the mount and eventually destroy them or catastrophically fail them and make a bad accident that much worse.

I think they look like crap personally- Gap guards or no. but if the OP wants them....Good for him.

He asked for an opinion on an open forum with a bias against BLs....He's gunna get the good the bad and the ugly. It's easy to google "Tacoma Body Lift" if he didn't want commentary.

Why would a 3" body lift be worse for the center of gravity than a 3" suspension lift? When you lift the body, it sits 3" higher, when you lift the suspension, the ENTIRE frame sits 3" higher, along with the body. I have a 3" body lift and other than the stock shifter boot making it hard to get into 4WD, it works great. Rides better than a suspension lift too. Weld some burly sliders on and cover the bed and wheel well gaps and it looks fine.

All the body lift haters on here are talking about the way it looks or relating 3rd hand information. (my buddies buddy had one and it caught fire and he died, sh*t like that) If you are getting a lift for your truck to get poon, then yeah, suspension is cool. If you are more concerned with keeping your truck for 500k miles, driving it to work every day and doing some wheeling during hunting season, then a body lift might be the way to go. Get one with UHDM spacers, loctite the hell out of the bolts too.

One of the reasons I am loathe to get on this site sometimes is that every time a person asks a question about which body lift, everyone chimps up to tell him he is a retard for doing so. If you don't have a body lift, or you haven't had one, find another post to speak up about. This guy is a grown ass man, if he has decided he wants a body lift, then help out. Don't just bitch at him for his decision, that is what we have wives for.

    Off my soapbox now.
