I'm not saying you can't prove it, but I'd consider this an anecdote. Without having done the leg work, or care to bother, I would bet you'd be hard pressed to find more than a shiesty dealership here and there trying to sell a Raptor at that price. I would suspect the $60k range is probably the norm.

I'm personally not a brand guy so the whole Ford/Chevy/Whatever thing doesn't really do much for me. I know a lot of Raptor owners that are pretty happy with them and feel like they definitely got their money's worth out of them. And I get the whole "I could just buy a cheaper truck and build it..." but honestly who really does that? What you "can" do and what you actually do are two totally different things. The bast majority of people would rather plunk down the cash, financed no less, with warranty and drive the truck off the lot than buy something less, fork over another $30k etc.

Different strokes obviously, but I am always kind of baffled by the Raptor "hate". In my opinion they are great trucks for what they are and there is nothing else like them on the market so kudos to Ford for having the business nads to invest their money in that endeavour. It's obviously paid off for them.

Not entirely true. Seen between 10 and 25k dealer "demand" markup out here. Standard asking price right now seems to be about $80k from what I can tell. Same reason a TRD Pro will sell above MSRP, people want them and are willing to fork over the cash to have them.

Im with you on that I don't have any crazy brand loyalty towards any manufacturer. I love the new f150s and I drove a gmc sierra for years, and I'm obviously a fan of toyota. Like tubbsis mentioned it seems theres a lot of mark up on the trucks. Im not a raptor hater by any means but I am a $100,000 price tag on a pick up truck hater. $60k range on a raptor wouldnt be that bad at all compared to how much half ton trucks that are fully loaded are going for. I doubt that dealers need that mark up at all to make more than their fairshare. Remember were talking about roughly $35,000 above MSRP.

I agree with you saying people rather finance a stock new truck with work done to it, $30,000 financed is a lot different than $30,000 cash going to a fab shop to build the truck. You're right.

I need one of those  Hardest part of getting my front end together was getting the tires back on

Heck, they do that to Jeep Wranglers out here. Normally about a $5,000 markup for "demand". Even though I've never seen so many Wranglers on lots in my life lol

mom wanted a pt cruiser back in 2000. listed right around 20k. local dealers had them listed at 35k because of demand. ended up buying one in PA for 22 because they knew they were pieces of shit there. car lasted 15 years lol. 12 years longer than it should have.

To all first gen guys with gears, anybody with 5.29's on V6 auto? How do you like it ?
Since I added the engine cage the added weight slowed me down some. I'm running 4.70 Open diff But thinking about 5.29's and A Trd Limited Slip I got in the garage.

Yes. BUT, it hasn't run with the gears.

So far, they're excellent. Highly recommended.

The few guys I know that ran 5.29s in a Yota housing blew the diff several times. I've been too not to go more than 4.88s. I would love 5.29 but don't want to blow it every other trip. Still not sure what I'll end up doing when mines ready.

Wouldn't do 5.29 unless you're a crawler..... I have 4.88s with 35's and turbo and almost wish I kept my oe 4.10. Highway speed sucks but I can go really quick fast and easily smoke the 35's. Can only go like 85ish though.... Are you forced induction?

I have 5.29s and a 5 speed. Love it. Lots of pep with my 35s.

Buddie of mine wishes he had done 5.29s for his 33s and auto.

@Tonto27 runs 5.29s with 33s and an auto.

I promise you that your truck would not seem as ballsy as it does now if you stayed with 4.10s and 35s. Not by a long shot.

Boost helps a lot, but not that much.

We boosted my Dads rig almost as much as you can from a trd blower on his 2008. Then we regeared it and it was night and day. Could actually use the power.

I know this is a common statement, but I disagree. Even though ive blown my front, but I set the diffs myself and the front didn't go as great as I would have liked so I'm blaming my lack of skills there.

Even Zuk, the legend of Toyota diff gear installs, says this is false and says that really 5.29s are stronger then 4.10s.

Its all in how you set them..

Spool time may have hurt too if I kept the OE gears. It just changed the highway dynamic drastically and that part I didn't like.....

Ive driven thousands of miles at 70mph at 3100rpm. No issues. In fact I never have to down shift from 5th anymore. Pulls every hill. I love it.

    5vzfe loves higher rpms.
