Just brought it back to the shop that did the gears. He gave me a big song and dance about how much he's lost on this vehicle and he don't think it's anything that he did but he will look at it but if it's not something he thinks he did I will be getting charged. Very frustrating very nerve-wracking conversation. He did drive it and knows there is something definitely wrong going on. I told him it's nothing that I have done so get it fixed one way or another. I told him if he had to send the differential out to the West Coast and have them rebuild it I would pay for the shipping this time. What a nightmare

Your experience sure cures me of any desire to heavily modify anything on my truck! Not that I need anything other than what the TRD OR does, heck I don't even need that much, but Mods gone bad just suck! BEST of luck for a resolution on it all!

Picked it up from the dealer only to be told this is "normal characteristics" of the 2017 Toyota Tacoma you must drive your truck with shakes, vibration and Transmission issues.....

If he has to pull the diff....ask for a photo of the contact pattern on the drive and coast side. I would think it would have to be way out to make a significant noise. Hopefully it's the drive disconnect or something.

Dude ,sry about that hole experience. That sucks. But you better not pay that guy a dime! He obviously made a mistake or something. And it drove fine before hand right? So it seems he is obligated to get it driving right. Best of luck to you man

So far he checked everything under it from the outside and said everything looks tight and good. I told him it's obviously something in the gears which is what it sounds like he kind of shrugged and said he'll have to look at it, sure seems to not want to take responsibility all the time as if it's something that I've done. Very frustrating.

Yes, looking at it again , if I did not know his user name it would have been pretty condescending . It was not mean it to be .

I just ordered mine this morning.

How could Toyota possibly think those pathetic little knobs were big enough to actually use? I have no patience for finding anything that small, especially in the dark.

You guys crack me up with the Honey Thing! Very good reason why I am honey and I have explained it several times throughout this post in the past. Anyways let's just say my 20 year old step daughters dad even calls me honey. It all started with her when she was 2 years old. That's okay I could use a laugh right about now. And I did tell the guy at the shop if he don't deal with it I guess I'll have to take it to another off road shop about two and a half hours away who was originally going to do the install for me and ask him to take it apart and figure it out. Don't think he really wants that so we'll see what he does. I'm afraid the grinding that has happened in there has already ruined some of the parts and probably should have new ones not just reset the ones that are in there. Shouldn't have to be this distraught over this he should just say we put them in we'll deal with it but I don't get that from him. He also told me he has put in like 3 other sets since mine and no problems. That doesn't make me feel any better.

He sounds very unprofessional, why is he talking to the customer about his profit/loss on a job? Pull it apart, figure out whats wrong, what caused it and go from there. If its his fault, suck it up. If not, then explain why. Just my .02
