So I took my SR5 to the dealer for its 5K service. 4 Months old. After 1.5 hours the service manager comes to get me. Says when they moved the truck they left it in neutral and rolled back through the parking lot hitting a 4Runner. First look was damage was not that bad. Busted tail light and small dent in tail gate. Its at the body shop now. Trying to figure out what my options are. Should I tell them to eat it and give me a new truck? I havnt signed anything yet except for the loaner car.

your not going to get a new truck..why would you. They will be responsible to fix every issue it caused and put it back to how it was before. end of story. What is with it everyone these days thinks if ANYTHING happens they get a new truck. Anything other then a lemon law and say before you take delivery they mess it up. Those are they only things I could see getting a new truck.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
What makes you think you're entitled to a new truck? This is no different than a fender-bender in a parking lot.

Good luck with that new truck lol. At most you could get some free service for future maintenance, I'd tell them pay out of pocket so that it doesn't show on carfax history report. It's a fender bender not new truck worthy. Maybe tell them you want the dark TRD pro tails, but don't get upset if they say no.

That's irresponsible of them for that to happen, but they're certainly not going to give you a new truck. I think your one and only option is already in place. It's in the body shop and they're fixing it. Good luck

Make them fix it perfectly and write you a check for depreciation, at a minimum.

I don't think they should give you a new truck unless there is severe frame damage.

The dealer damaged the door sill on my 2015 and after having several people look at it and a visit to their body shop they decided to order me a new 17 at invoice instead of fixing my truck.

Most of the people I have talked to at work were telling me of diminished value if I go to sell the truck. I just want to make it right and make sure there is no other damage. will be interested in seeing what the body shop actually replaces. Just sucks having this happen on a new truck.

Your truck isn't new anymore, it's 4 months old. You aren't getting a new truck, Be glad they are honest and fixing their mistake.

it won't show on carfax if they own the body shop so no diminished value really, but shoot like I said go for some free service or a bit of money on depreciation.

They'll write you a check for depreciation. Same thing with vehical accidents. A lot of people forget about this.

With how minor you are saying the damage was there is no diminished value. Crap happens. Get over it. There is no way they are going to cut you a check either. They will fix it. And that's all they should have to do. You bought a vehicle. Crap is going to happen to you me vehicle. Should have realized that when you bought it.

Was the original post a joke or are you really serious? You really think you had a chance of getting a new truck??

They will fix the damage, and you probably get comped a bit of extra for any depreciation.

But there is no way they give you a new truck. It's kinda the same as if you get rear ended on the road. The person responsible won't buy you a new vehicle.

Edit: @dYL0n beat me to it :p

If you get a check for "depreciation" let me know. I would be blown away. But would love to know if this is a real thing.

Getting a new truck never crossed my mind until talking to several people in the office. Like I said was just want to make it right and see what my options are.

Curious what all those who think he could get paid depreciation, what the value of that would be? A broken tail light???? That will look the exact same. A small dent in tailgate, easily fixed to where you'd never know it happened. Or they can even just replace he tailgate and you'd never know. So what's the depreciation in this small incident?

It is real, diminished value, but not all States have it.

    >Dealer has a minor accident involving OP's truck
    >>Tail light broken and tailgate slightly dented
    >>>OP demands new truck instead of ~$1,000 dollar worth of repairs

Is this the definition of millennial entitlement or what?
