Never had this happen ever!

I got in my truck after work today, and I let it warm up til she was idling at about 1k rpms. I put it in drive and she didnt start to roll at all. Usually it will move on its own without having to give it any throttle. I slowly pushed the accelerator and the truck moved like normal. I noticed that the brakes were very very thouchy. As in, I barely depressed the brake pedal and the truck stopped real real quick. I checked all of the drive shafts and nothing was wrapped around them. the brakes didnt smell like they were stuck and they were not extremely hot. I could place a finger on them with no burning.
Guys I have no idea what the crap is wrong! I dont wanna eff up my tranny or anything else as Ive had the truck for only 6 months. Any input and comments would be a great help!

Ideas?

 

e-brake??? im assuming you checked that but wanted to make sure

 

my truck does the same thing too when i get in it after school when its cold out, i dont worry about it nor should i worry about it, its just cold, once the truck gets its juices going then things get back to normal

 

Haha yeah i did check that. I actually engaged and disengaged it several times to make sure.

 

The thing is that this is the first time that it has done it. Couple of weeks ago when it got down to bout 8 degrees it didnt do it.

 

it usually takes a while for the truck to roll itself. And for the brakes, its just cold out. Mine are always touchy in the mornings.

 

I seriously wouldnt worry about it, these trucks have been tested before put out on the road, lots of people dont warm their trucks up, i do, Its great that you do it

If it was really cold your tires were probably deflated so it took alittle more umph to get it going. I think your okay. Plus all your fluids were probably cold.

Suggest in the future you try the german idea of car warm ups. Get in it, start and drive away very slowly. I know your owner's manual probably says let it idle till it's warm but the germans claim its better to start and drive very slowly as this will aid in warming the vehicle up and will help get the lubrication system working in a shorter amount of time.

Just remember...drive slowly until it warms up. No highway speeds and no driving like a wild man.

Just a suggestion...it seems to work for me and my 95 model....

 

How cold? Sometimes ice can bind up your drive shaft, etc...

 

im sure if he had ice he would hear it cracking and flinging off and hitting the undercarriage

 

Some times yes. Sometimes no. Depends where the ice is. I get it a lot (specailly in the last few days on the east coast).

 

if it was cold and rained or you had parked in a wet spot, the truck may have frozen to the ground..happened to me before.

 

i didnt know ice accumulated on the drive shaft

 

yeah, no worries.

If anything fails, WARRANTY got your back. Just be sure its not user error.

Thats happened multiple times to me as well. Monday morning to be exact.

 

It was doing this the entire way home on and off
I usually just let the truck warm up so the cab is warm

 

If my truck can start up when the engine temp is 78* and go without a hitch I'm sure yours is fine too.
