Just some low areas you have to cross. Gets nasty. And some clay as well.

The weather keeps changing everyday. Guess it depend on the direction of that storm coming in.

I considered this route as well but some of those areas are so soft and deep when its dry I can only imagine what a good bit of water would do.
Driving the tracks would be horrible

Im sure you recall this picture!! Just south of the railroad bridge thats on the crossover from split mountain before you head south

I was debating bringing mine. I strap mine to the trailer rack which is 6x8. Then sit on the trailer out of the dirt/mud. Or I was just gonna use the rack.

Whatever path you choose, it'll be worth it. 100% chance of rain thurs-sat. 32* at night. Gonna be a great time. Building a "sheltered city" with the rigs surrounding will help with wind. Wagon wheel style.

Might I suggest you guys going out there on Thursday find a spot to set up out of the wind a bit, maybe near sand fingers or something.

Hate to do it, but we're officially backing out of this. Wouldn't mind joining myself, but we were making this a family trip and I've been over ruled on account of bad weather. Have fun and be safe!

Possibly a dusting of snow overnight, rain in the afternoon, and windy conditions. Looks to be this one will test the casual campers preparedness. Stoked to see how myself will handle this chaos nature is gonna throw our way. Bringing every bit of rain gear, carhart, north face, and Columbia gear I have. Crazy how beautiful today is, not a cloud in sight.... But in a couple days.... Bingo.

Yeah, wind definitely cuts right through but all will be well. Adventures can't always be easy. Takes the fun out of it, ya know? Haha. Best advice is change to fresh clothes at night before bed. Wool socks and knit cap. Clothes worn during the day retain lots of moisture from ones body prespiring as well as the elements from the day.... Wind carries a lot of moisture.

Good thing you sealed your topper so it'll repel the rain better.

Good call! I need to swing by the store and get some warm clothes for this. I hate cold feet while camping. So glad madison's soft topper holds in the heat well :)

Straight up. I'll be packing the wool socks, hats and scarves. I'll just set up my ezup at the end of my truck bed and hangout on the tailgate in our ezup village

That's the plan. Ez up over the tailgate so meal prep stays dry. If anyone needs them I have plenty of stakes to keep our ez ups from becoming kites.
