Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Of course, shipping for bolt-ons is usually a least an extra $100.

Bolt ons are usually significantly more expensive.

I guess it depends on where you go. I went with Demello for mine and they seemed to be decent. You could also go local with mob town as I think a few members could help in transporting them since members tend to see them in waves.

If you plan on actually using your sliders and/or putting the weight of the truck on them, I would recommend weld ons...I know some vendors do tests jacking half the truck up with a hi lift or similar with bolt ons, but I'm of the opinion that if you are planning to use them as a rocker to either get over or around something (tree/rock) or may be in a situation where the truck slips and the slider is what is holding the weight of the truck, I'd much rather have weld ons.

I had my left slider hold my truck just fine when we went to flagpole sliding over a big rock. If the slider only has four contact points to bolt in I would be a little nervous though.

I forget how many the @Mobtown Offroad sliders have. But if they are welded, and you hit the bottom, aren't you hitting your frame? That's probably bad

explain your logic. most bolt on have large plates that wrap the frame with alot of bolt locations. i think this would be stronger since it is contacting more surface area. an if its about weight being on them more surface area is better not tube with a small square welded to the end then to the frame more spots to break in my opinion.

I guess it would come down to how the fabricator set up the contact points, but I agree the more actual surface area you have can significantly increase the strength in the design. Do most weld on silders come with plates? I think if they made "L" brackets to mount the slider then it could be much stronger too.

some have square plates that you just weld to the side of the frame.

Some bolt ons don't have the large plate style with a number of bolts (especially Grade 8 bolts). I think I would trust those large plate styles, but Ones like Avid Offroad's are not like that at all and purely mount like running boards.

I have the square plate style welded but I actually have five legs welded to frame on each so I'm pretty sure my frame would fail before my slider would...

I would want the slider to fail before the frame..

There aren't any rocks tall enough in my driveway, or in my work parking lot. So I think I am safe with either design :anonymous:

Did a thing today, still waiting for the arm to arrive, so it has to just look pretty for now.
But super easy to install, took maybe 7 min.
