You know you would rather have the Rotopax for the better build...

May as well buy a walmart gas can if you wanted a fuelpax...

I was wondering what the hell what fuel pax was when I saw them the other day..

My take was that Rotopax just wants a piece of the walmart fuel can market..

Yea the fuelpax are made essentially the same way a regular gas can is, so a little thinner on the walls. I would rather have a Rotopax for the thicker walls and better build for the applications I want to use it on.

In for a 4 gal gas, 2x 2 gal water, mounts, and bed rail plates.

What do you all think of hanging that much weight off a front bed rail?

I think it should be good if you make sure the weight is spread out, I have a hi-lift mounted on the side rail and no issues at all.

But if my math is right, all of those full would be 58.24lbs in just liquid alone.

4 gallons of gas plus 4 gallons of water...
    4 x 8.36 = 33.44 lbs in water
    4 x 6.2 = 24.8lbs in fuel

So I would say yes, may let someone else chime in though...

Also... @Jamart5 I saw that post...

If you really want to lock a 2 gallon (water or gas or anything), it has to be mounted by itself. The extension allows for the top pack to rotate, which means that the lock can simply be "unscrewed." Bummer, yes.

This is hard to find on the site, but is covered in their FAQ: https://rotopax.com/faq.html

    Code:
Q: Do the Locking Pax Mounts work with Extensions?
A: Locking pax mounts will work to secure the can in place but the top can can
be rotated removing the can and the locking “T” handle.
(Locking pax mounts are recommended for cans that are not stacked)

Well... there you go, guess I missed that part.

Then what is the point lol. I guess so people see that it is locked and then not even trying to twist.

Side note, I have heard that the LOX are not the best and would be easier to use a good bicycle cable to secure the Rotopax down, which is what I plan on doing as I will be able to lock both Rotopax and my TREDs at once I think.

Ok. I have a 2 gallon water already. I should get a regular mount, extension, 2 gallon gas, and a bicycle lock?

You are mounting it to the side rails of the bed right?

If so, what I did with my hilift before I had the camper is that I ran a good steel cable through the bed tie down point, ran it through the hi-lift and then used a pad lock to secure it.

Could do the same thing with the Rotopax as well?

I have 2 stacked water and 2 stacked gas. I use a bike lock. Kinda meh, but I don't want them walking off.
