you shouldn't need to ground it if you mount it in the center of your roof with the magnet.

 

Thats what I was thinking @presta24 , since it's a magnet.

Good luck finding a place to mount an actual CB box, that cubby in front of the stick certainly isnt big enough in my '16. One of the big plusses of my midland is it's a handheld that converts to 'vehicle' by just plugging it into the lighter and running the coax cable into that adapter.

 

Ya, I may just say f it and go that way. Then I can just remove it when not in use.

 

The 75-822 is apparently one of the best handheld CBs you can get, and it only ran us like $80. I got it primarily for backpacking with friends but it will definitely come in handy going on trips with you lot

Figured I'd introduce myself. I'm Jon from Louisville KY. Here's a few pics of my 2016 in Moab this fall. Hoping to get more involved and off road with some local guys.

If you do Facebook, look up Midwest Overlanders. Local/regional group. They have a small group headed to Moab in the spring. I'm sure they'll have numerous questions. Also, hit "The Official Central Kentucky Thread" (in Midwest forum oddly enough) Most of "The locals" (to Louisville area) are there, as well as a couple Tennessee threads.

I'm just south of you, in Mt Washington. Work in Louisville. There will be another meet up for the Louisville crowd soon. A friend is about to open the doors on a new restaurant and I'll be inviting everyone there as soon as it's open for business. Watch "Central Ky" thread for news of that.

haha i'm fine with leaving early... that means we wont get stuck trying to get over the bridge. i was thinking leave your place by 7? of course i still don't know if i'll even be able to leave thursday morning or not get so ... we shall return to this conversation

Not sure if I can roll that early, the wife has asked me to drop the kids off at the sitter that AM, which would be seven. I have taken that Wednesday off too, plan on getting packed and all that then. So I am ready to hit it Thursday.

I'm squared away to go down Thursday. Got wife approval. May bring one of my friends who likes camping and finds offroading amusing, that's the only question mark for me at this point.

I'll try to meet you at your place too Matt, but it's a hell of a drive, I might be a little late.
