That just means the gears are ok. What about bushings, bearings etc. Removing the drives haft won't do anything. You said it drives fine in 2wd?

Yes it drives fine in 2 wheel. I don't know that I ever drove it in 4 wheel drive especially not at Road speed before he did the gears never really had the chance. Was always getting something done to it. And he knows that.

I'm just curious but with tacomas coming from the factory with low fluids, has he or you checked transfer case oil? Just a thought.

He just told me Lift I used is good for CV angles not driveshaft angle. Shouldn't that kit have come with something too make that work. Or am I the only one that buys things that I think are correct and everything is all screwed up!

While that is possible, you would usually get a slight vibration not grinding. If you got the diff drop kit with yours it usually corrects the angle.

The transfer case has nothing to do with the lift so that would not have been changed. It's a quick check and just a thought.

What was the final fix for the 4wd not working and who fixed it? Whoever it was would have tested it and nited an issue if there was one i'd think.

Not usually. Transfer case is on Trans so he would not have to do anything to it.

I also think the look a little shallow, but hard to tell from the picture. I'd send those pictures to the gear company and tell them what is going on seeing they recommended this guy to you.

Okay, I can tell him to check that. He is the one who got the 4 wheel drive to engage it was the differential actuator that wasn't working properly. Said they test drove it afterwards but I don't know how they wouldn't have noticed that vibration like you just said.

The only problem with that is they are selling him gear packages now which they've been trying to get him to do for several years I guess so they aren't necessarily going to be on my side. I'm not buying any more packages from them he has bought several and installed I guess recently.

I feel like I'm in a no-win situation here. I think he will do whatever he has to to try to correct the issue and even if it is something that he had done will make it seem like it wasn't something that had anything to do with his work. And I will probably end up with a large bill.

Once this nightmare is over, i'd find a new mechanic.
