Drivetrain or Suspension Upgrade First?

Hey guys, planning to take the next step with my truck and am looking for feedback. I'm wanting to spend a week in Moab in the spring of 18' (driving there and back) and Doing a lot more wheeling starting now.

Current Setup:

255/80/17 st maxxs
Pelfreybilt aluminum skids
5100's on the lowest setting
Ome 887s
Camburg BJ UCA s
1/4" lean spacer
Sway bar removed
Wheelers 3 leaf aal
Stock length rear 5100s

Proposed Phase 1:

Icon Extended Travel w/ 650lb springs
All pro standard leafs
Archive Garage shackle flip
Archive Garage shock relocate
14" travel fox smooth body (can't decide between emulsion or remote res)
Wheelers super bumps
Extended rear brake lines

Phase 2:

Ecgs 4.56s w/ front arb
Ecgs 4.56s w/ rear truetrac
315/70/17 Procomp xmt2s


This truck is still my dd but I anticipate having a beater for my commute by the end of the year. Most my adventures will be Midwest trail riding but I do plan on Moab and the Rubicon the following spring if that goes well.

See anything that you would change?

 

Why Icons up front and Fox in the rear? The Icons are digressive and the Fox are progressive.

 

if you plan on running a front bumper I would put heavier springs up front. and go with remote resi rear

 

Is there a 12-14" travel 2.0 shock that would fit better alongside the icon front setup? I ask because I'm completely clueless...

 

I'm planning on a hidden winch mount and a winch but have read many reviews claiming the 700lb springs were too harsh. This truck will see a lot of slow speed stuff and street duty on the regular so I was not sure if that would justify no res or not.

 

If you want to run icons up front you should run them in the rear too. I went with the Fox 2.5 extended travel up front and Fox rr 2.0 in the rear and am happy with the ride.

My problem with Icons is you have to ship to them to rebuild and I think a progressi shock is more appropriate for what I use the truck for.

Any of the big brands (king, Fox, icon) will have a matched set and I see no need to mix brands but that's just me.

true this is. for the price of fox 2.0 with resi it almost worth it to have the extra cooling for oil. shocks heat up even though your not going very fast. but its up to personal preference. have you looked into ADS IFP for the rear and or king

Also, for slow speed stuff offroad I think a progressive shock would probably be a better option (king or fox)...but I'm on pain/nausea meds so not thinking very clearly at the moment.

 

I did some skimming through the ads products and a member from our club runs them with nothing but praise. Certainly not off the table.

 

I'm running the ADS up front. haven't put them on yet but the quality of the coilover is top notch. the top hat is better engineered over the icon in my opinion
