Oh that didn't even occur to me. I was simply looking at the height, not the width. Even more reason to angle them. While most cases won't be like what you posted, that is one hell of an example.

Yeah, would have been tough for sure. Doesn't set up well for the next part...

    Demonstrates the point decently though

Unless it's hitting and making noise it would cause more problems to fix. If it's making noise then we can bash the pinch weld flat and create some more clearance.

Oh I see what you mean, we could tweak it a bit with a portapower if it's bothering you.

Yea my first cuts where 40 i think and i went more.

I did it like that because its mainly a DD.

No difference in clearance. Difference is width and also how effect they will be for pivot points around rocks and trees. Mine on Igor won't. My BAMF ones on Frank with a 8'' kick out..they pivot great.

No difference between the parts themselves. Shouldn't be anyways. Use the same everything and same geometry.

I bet yours com with bolts and the later ones don't. Or dust shields.

There wouldn't be any ground clearance outboard on the outer tube of the slider? Nothing significant, but wit them flatter, they would be slightly lower there, ya? My thinking was that angling would raise the ends up so you don't have to worry about something outside of the width of the truck sticking up too high. But it's seeming fairly insignificant now that I think about it.

The pivot idea is interesting. With them flatter/father out, your pivot radius would be bigger, which I don't imagine is a good thing. Closer in would give a smaller radius. Hmm.

Not any lower than your frame.... can't imagine anyone puts them lower.

Well considering the rail that takes most of the hits is the lower rail, i think measuring clearance with the out rail is...well..pointless..

It can be a good thing. If your off camber a bit and your pivot is small..you do this..

    upload_2017-1-17_20-22-51.jpg

If the pivot radius is further out..you stay off shit.

Thats why people put kick outs on in the first place.

Yeah I was thinking obstacles that are farther out than the truck itself, just as sliders are. But thinking about how far out sliders stick and how much "clearance" you'd gain from angling, I'm thinking my thinking was wrong. Or at least inconsequential.

Ah I see. There definitely is a lot for me to learn.

You're not totally wrong. That is why people angle them to keep them from grabbing on everything...and its also a PITA to get into a truck that has something sticking out so far.

But you aren't "gaining clearance". Just avoiding getting snagged a little bit. Shit still gonna hit the kickouts. But thats what they are for.

Haven't wheeled with the sliders yet, but once I do, I'll be glad to hit them on shit. I came damn close a few times. I'm not gonna cry over scratching sliders. Nothing a little rattle can can't fix. If I just wanted side steps, I'd have gotten them. And if I were looking to mod for appearance only, I wouldn't choose a pickup truck as my platform.

Totally agree with putting the sliders out a bit further(less angled). Mine have saved me more times than I can count. Even though they do tag a bunch of rocks etc because they aren’t angled a ton im fine with it... I would rather keep tagging them than hit the cab or rear fender etc

    Kickout also helps a TON

I received both packages over the weekend and both lbjs came with all bolts. That's the added cost and why the part numbers are different then. Thanks @Blackdawg
