I hope I am not too late... The Red#2 wire goes to +12v. This is for the switch illumination. Black is ground for illumination. Cut wire 17 in half. The Red#1 Green go to the ends of wire 17 that were cut. This is for NAV lockout override.

Could you explain that one? The diagram descriptions for each wire would suggest Green & Red #1 comprise the SPST switch while Red#2 and Black comprise the illumination terminals?

Honestly, you would be better off using two switches. With the DPDT switch shown, you would have one of the following issues depending on how the switch was wired:

    1. Nav lockout override would ONLY be active when you have the reverse camera anytime active.

    2. Nav lockout override would ALWAYS be active when the reverse camera anytime was off.

If you can live with one of these scenarios, feel free.

I am corrected. Sorry, I am reading through these posts pretty fast. Trying to catch up with my kids screaming and fighting in the background.

This is exactly how it should be wired with the diode.

Please note that this is not the Tacome HU. The speed sense wire labeled here is incorrect. I believe someone else noted in another post that this is a Tundra HU. The speed sense wire for Tacoma is on that same plug bottom row, third from right.

Any tips or tricks for extracting the pins from the harness?

    Why?

I've not tried, but should be the usual catch on the face side. Probably need a pretty small jeweler's screwdriver or similar.

Just looked at my @jshsltr harness. The releases will be in the tiny rectangular holes if this follows the pattern of other connectors.

I don't have any tools small enough to get in there to release the tab or whatever is retaining the pin.

I have had some success using the small flat tool used to pop the sim slot out of samsung phone. Also you can clip the round tip off of a bobbi pin use the flat edge left.

This will help. As viewed from the back side of the HU end of harness.

For the reverse camera you need to feed 12v to pin 2. Cut the wire to pin 2. Solder diode between the leads (striped end of diode toward HU). Then connect switched 12v source to the HU side of the diode.

So the "wiring" would look like this HU Side of Harness------T-tap for switch-----Diode-----Other end of Harness

Yes. Line on diode would face the HU

The aux video input is on pins 13,14. You can cut off the female end of RCA cable. The shield wire goes to pin 14. The signal wire goes to pin 13.

Aux audio can also be wired of desired. L+ audio signal on 28, R+ on 26. The shielding from both audio cables should be tied together and connected on pin 27.

So if solder RCA cables to these pins, then convert to an HDMI cable with something like this:

It is my understanding that this is correct. I have already soldered female RCA onto the harness in my truck. I will find try to find some player to test it out.
[IMG] I can connect feed my laptop or other video device thru the screen? or maybe a front view camera?

I believe (but not tested) that the aux jack on the usb block is tied to these inputs, so if you leave the factory harness side of these inputs disconnected, the aux jack will not work.

Also, I have read that the aux video will not work while the vehicle is in motion unless the SPD lockout override is done.

SPD? - Speed sensing wire that you guys keep talking about?

    This is correct

Is it possible to purchase one of these already modified so that we can use it immediately? Another words, I have a 2015 and want to add this so that I can use the GPS while moving (remove speed lock out). Are you willing to mod the harness so that it is ready to plug and play once purchased? If I understand your previous posts, the buyer has to add either a switch or diode in order to get this desired effect correct? Thanks up front! I may want this too

    Working on it :)

Removed the speed wire today and plugged in the harness. It does bypass the input lockouts but it also freezes my location. :(

    Update on post #144

Cool, thanks. So that sounds like you'd want to leave it switched on normally, and turn off only when your passenger needs to enter something while moving.

Yeah. I was hoping to be able to just always have it off. Having to hit a separate button just to enter an address is kind of janky to me.

Well this is a bypass, not a permanent solution as your main attention should be your moving truck. Else, just sit still for less than 1 min to enter your destination or change settings.

As mentioned this is a bypass. A workaround.

Nothing stops you from just using the system as designed where you need to be stopped in order to enter an address.
