I started with putting some lights on the truck. 22 inch bar in the front and 2 pods on the toolbox. Broke a door handle and noticed a coolant leak in the process (big puddle under the truck) :anonymous:

No satellite radio is high compression and sounds like garbage. Suprisingly old technology that despite being a pay service never gets any quality upgrades. Which blows cause some of the stations have stuff I like but I can't get past the quality.

Very good information didn't know anything about having the rotors coated before. I actually got a call from magnuson last light and he said that the rotors for the 2nd gen are available but it'll cost 1K just for a new pair. But he explained to me if my Supercharger isn't making any noise than I shouldn't worry about it for now. As for the rotors I'm not gonna have them coated because like you said it won't be perfectly balanced if I have someone recoat them. I might hold off on the rebuilt until my Supercharger starts making some strange noise. When I did remove the rotors from the housing I did noticed some thin black coat on them. Unless that could be carbon.

When you sent your supercharger to magnuson how much did you pay for the full rebuild?

Blackdawg is correct when it comes to a 2nd gen.

Edit: Forgot to tell that the guy from magneson just told me to change out the oil every 100k miles.

Radio in general sucks ass for a lot of reasons in terms of quality.

Digital and satellite though take it up a notch with data compression. holy fuck is it bad.

Same song on radio vs off my phone is night and day to me. This is on a an amped set of component speakers and seperately amped sub so sound quality is better than in most guys trucks.

You just don't know better. I spent days setting up mics and monitors for theatre productions. Listening in the house and upper house for subtle dropouts and nuances. You get an ear for quality and fidelity and it'll never leave you.

I am going to break the glass for you next time we are together.

    Satellite sucks sooooo bad.

Granted, I have ears that are trained for this. But if I can make it obvious to Grant I'm sure I can to you.

But you're the perfect example of whats wrong with the music industry. People don't care. Its not music anymore its noise that people want in the background. You could careless if it s a 128kbps mp3 or worse vs a 1156kbps wav

Yeah it's not great. I like talk shows which it is okay for and I like HD radio because at least I'm not paying a monthly fee for it to sound terrible.

I think talk shows are the worst. The mega audio compression with the data compression is so harsh. I can't do it.

I haven't heard an XM talk show for a while but I remember them being fuzzy as if they were talking through a pillow with the occasionally blocky sounds like your hear from MPEG compression. But HD radio streams of talk shows are okay because they cut the digital stream in with the analog stream to manufacture more depth.

Yeah I was surprised when I put my new head unit in and thought "HD" radio would be better, but found the quality to be shit.

Yeah it's Qualcomm's step in the right direction for radio but it will never be as good as a locally stored high res sounds file.
