I have a tiny Yorkie that also doesn't understand personal space. If you have your pants all the way down around your ankles, she will climb in them and sit there while you poop. Then gets pissed when she has to get out.

"A user fee is charged and a permit is required" turns me off. My main point being that I don't want to tell anyone we're coming. I don't want people driving by to check on us. I don't want to be regulated by someone or told what to do or when to be quiet or that I cant sleep in that spot. This meet is the camping/offroad version of you and me meeting in a Walmart parking lot to check out eachothers trucks, posting it on snap chat and then random people pulling up and stopping to do the same. The depth of my organization on this meet is where to come to hangout. Past that, do what you want. It's meant to be as relaxed and free as possible. Now obviously I HOPE everyone is respectful to the park and eachother but I don't feel I need to tell people that smashing their beer bottle down on a walking trail is frowned upon and lighting the forrest on fire may kill a few small animals. We do a pretty good job of regulating ourselves in most respects to all things camping and offroading. I'm not gonna purposely tell someone to do that for me.

How bout you just show up and enjoy yourself Mike! Gawd!!!!!

^^^ Tell ya right now... I've done back country camping at LBL before and got caught without a permit.. Luckily they did not give me a citation however, a written warning by the game warden. "That I disturbed wildlife and natural surroundings" (fine could of been $1000's probably just BSing) but just a heads up I mean y'all do you. I would not want people getting cited for something they did not know or for something petty like that. Also bigger group more attraction for randos to report to fish and game. Its better to have a permit as boring as that sounds....

I know exactly what you mean @allmotorrex. It seems like it's just getting worse and worse too on regulations. Someone just posted this video over at the overland thread about government regulations and controlling the public land. Sucks that everywhere you turn in this so called "Free Country" you have to pay for this and that. However, it sucks even worse if you get tagged with a ticket to enjoy the land as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgeXRrrsDZM

My kids have basketball games Sat. I don't have the schedule with me but we will have to coordinate around that. I sent allmotorrex a PM to see what the easiest (least time consuming) way to swap them is.

That's not what I meant .... Yes, please go buy a $7 backcountry 3 day camping permit. But thats literally all you need to camp and offroad all weekend. You don't sign up for a camping spot, you aren't told "section 3 spot 7", you aren't followed around by a Park Ranger to make sure you stay in the right spot, you aren't "looked after", etc ...... I can't control what other people decide to make their regulation policies but if I get to chose what rules to play by, I'm picking the shortest list possible. Buying a $7 backcountry camping permit and going off into the wilderness to do whatever i want the rest of the weekend is that short list. I also can't control what people chose to pay for or not pay for and it's not my responsibility to make sure they are following all regulations, it's theirs. Now put me in a position where I'm "renting" a group camping spot and possibly signing a waiver that if 1 person violates a rule the whole group gets kicked out ...... yeah simply stated, you being a fuck up isn't gonna ruin my good time and I damn sure won't sign my name to that shit. I don't even know why im explaining all this .....

Once again, follow the park rules and enjoy your weekend. Way too much thought being put into this

Isnt the only permit we need the $7 3 night camping permit? That's all I saw on the LBL site.

for those who don't understand what just happened:
my first post was a legitimate question, followed by purposely attempting to get gideon all upset and frustrated... because its really easy, and entertaining :boink:

@allmotorrex i completely understand your logic, and actually agree with you on most of it

    I do.
It let's say things like "your idea sounds like a lot of work for no gain but per section 3.1.1.2.11, that's your job, not mine". Or, my absolute fav, "you have an interesting opinion on the subject but per 2.47.3.1, you really have no say in the matter".
