    I scratched mine by wiping it with the softest microfiber towel in existence. I dont know how toyota thinks that this plastic is ok for a gauge cluster. the plastic is way too soft!

    Other Toyotas, Nissans, Fords, Chevys, Mazdas, Subarus and Hyundai... That's what i have owned. Pretty wide spectrum for comparison.

    Improper care? Did you miss the part where i said i only use a clean micro fiber towel and Harley gloss to clean it? It's specially formulated to NOT SCRATCH plastics/Lexan... Jesus man... It's a great truck. I love it. But cheap shit is cheap shit. No way around that.

    Obviously no one can have an issue or opinion that doesn't agree with your point of view. I get that. I can be a real narrow-minded jack ass sometimes. Just not this time.

    Yes, I work in auto design and deal with these concerns while making/ designing the gauge cluster for the IP on a regular basis. Cost, weight, safety, and durability are ALL concerns. Glass will never fare well and can become a projectile once shattered. You think Takata has issues....

    Your ownership experience nearly mirrors mine, and of those I've replaced the dash plastics several times on the nissans I've owned as they were also ridiculously soft with many others simply learning to live with the inherent softness and minor visible defects as a result. The Frontier's I recently replaced, they put the new one in a empty box so it had some packaging dust on it. I cleaned it using a new MF towel and quick detailer. Still managed to put fine swirls all over it. Nature of the material used on cheap vehicles....I got it acceptable by using a glaze on it as it filled in the fine marks and got it looking good again. I'm surprised you've not noticed it on your others as I have...are you sure you're not just becoming more picky or have higher expectations now because of the optioned up price paid? Would you feel the same if it were 24k as the base truck price is (with some buying them for 21k?)

    Absolutley not. I think that ANY vehicle manufacturer that knowingly uses plastic that scratches from the simple act of being cleaned properly is out of line and should be held accountable REGARDLESS of base vehicle price, or price paid. Like i said in the beginning... my $02. Worth exactly what you paid.

    What do you plan on doing to hold them accountable? You take it in, tell them bad material...and say they agree to replace it, with the same soft plastic no less...what then?

    I'm not trying to be rude here...but without a plan...all this is, is complaining about something you cannot change....and at that point I ask, why waste your time?

    Someone in this thread nailed it with using 3M clear film over it to protect it. My truck is a week old and I haven't "wiped" the cluster yet so what I'm going to do is pick up a brand new piece, cover it with 3M clear, and use it when the other one gets messed up. Problem solved !

    I would not even remotely be able to live with this. I would buy a new lens if mine got scratched. I requested the dealership not clean my truck upon delivery which they agreed to and I have never touched the lens with anything because I read about it getting scratched easily on here. It has some dust building up but I will stay strong and leave it be lol

    Get yourself a can of "compressed air" from Staples or something and everytime you fill up the fuel tank, blast the cluster with that can of air !!
