Just get a gen 1 Tundra. About the same size as a Tacoma and a V8.

They are badass. They look proportional and not all small-penised like the new Tundras that think they are a Mack truck.

I want to see a diesel in the tundra due to its size and I think there is a better chance of the fullsize getting it than the hilux coming over

Hey Guys! sorry to Jack this thread, I'm still getting used to these forums, I have a 2007 X-runner (4.0 1GR) with the 6 speed Manual and my cylinders are warped, I bought it knowing it burned oil hoping it was just rings but its much worse, the shop says that because of the block setup boring the cylinders and larger pistons would not be enough to round them. so I'm faced with a challenge. either I get a new short block and rebuild my 4.0, or from what I've read the 4.7 from the Gen 1 tundras should be a close fit. please give me your input and ideas because as of now I've only been able to find theories about the 4.7 but nobody who has done it yet. any other Ideas that wont be insanely expensive and still dependable? Any input would be appreciated, and if I'm not in the right place to ask this question please direct me! thanks!!

My dad had one, it was a 2000 I believe. Rusted to the ground, frame, body, the whole thing.

Have to find a california or florida model.

the engine itself would be less expensive initally, but getting mounts and trans and ecu and electrical connections would be an absolute nightmare.

DoubllD is in the late stages of that swap as we speak. Check his build thread. Plus he works at a performance shop.

I have a hunch that all of the necessary components are documented. ;)

So the answer on wether the trans mission and engine mounts from a Tacoma would match with the 4.7 is no?

This is how I see it, if you're going to swap in a V8, do the 5.7. :D
