The seat belt chime is annoying so I purchased the seat belt extensions from Amazon.

For whatever reason multiple passengers have released the extension instead of the seat belt, and it seems quite confusing for everyone.

To make matters worse I put some fabric tape around the male end of the extension to reduce the amount of vibration and clicking as I drove. The other benefit of this is it made the seat belt extension more difficult to remove and put back in. Nice and tight.

So, in wanting to find out a way to overcome this silliness, I decided to do the following-

I purchased the insulating shrink tube from Amazon, here's the link- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ICY2BU/

The product on the above Amazon link is a 3" circumference after heat, but a slightly smaller one might be able to be used. The tube I used after shrinking doesn't have any movement in either case.

The 2.5" is $31.70 vs the 3" that I purchased that was $21.30

    Dealer disable = free.

If people are wearing their seatbelt why are you worried about the chime?

Disable with Carista or Techstream. I bought the extenders initially, however I was able to turn off the chime through Techstream.

The one problem I had with the extenders was the truck would still recognize me in the truck if I accidentally left my lights on. It wouldn't warn me. I rarely forget, however when/if I do, I don't want to be without enough battery to start if I went off hunting or something.

Because a lot of dealers are worthless and wont do it, or worse will charge you.

I made my dealer disable before I signed paperwork. The dealer will do it, ya just have to be a dick.

Disabled my chimes with Carista. One of the better investments that I have made was the purchase of my Carista.

The software disable writes the setting change to volatile memory.

My dealer just charged me 54.00 to disable it yesterday on my 5000 mile checkup. I hated the noise when on my trapline because I'm in and out of the truck constantly on the farm.

You could have bought carista for that price and had more options to customize stuff..

You can buckle it behind you if you know you're going to be in and out and don't want to be bothered. Cant feel the strap.

I've also heard of people cutting hard plastic into the shape of the buckle clip and keeping it buckled with that. Could cut a buckle from a junkyard car and leave that buckled...could order a replacement buckle online...

Best to buckle up obviously... i only buckle it behind me on very rare occasion

Ummm no, it doesn’t. Sometimes guessing or making random shit up on the Internet doesn’t work out.

Haha since this thread got a bump, might as well chime in. You can turn off the seatbelt chime with Techstream ... one of the first things I did to my truck
