Gonna be fun camping out in flash flood zones. Only problem I see is the 68 coming south could get flooded out. lots of washes and bridges crossing that road toward the salton sea. Don't care if we get stuck there, I'd just be mad if it stopped us from getting down there haha
Anyone think Fish Creek will actually be a creek or inaccessible? I wanna go see the canyon again on Saturday. Beautiful place! but it is a canyon... and called a creek... in a 10 year super storm... haha

I wouldn't want to go from super to fish creek off road. Could be bad.

I don't worry about floods in transit. Hopefully the snow plows are out though.

    Odds and Ends
Several years ago I was camped in the first campground from Split Mountain in Fish Creek. There was no rain where we were but some very large visible thunderheads in the distance, Shelter Valley to Julian area basically. When we woke in the morning there was over a foot of water running thru Fish Creek and we never saw a drop of rain. I would expect this weekend that Fish Creek will be Fish River and completely impassable. I would steer completely clear of any area that has creek or wash in the name. It only take a few inches of moving water to sweep you away.
Sorry if I sound like a safety coordinator, Id just hate to see someone not make it home to their family at the end of the weekend.

Yeah I figured as much. Not about to willingly go into something that stupid and end up on the SoCal offroad recovery facebook page asking for a rescue... haha

It's a great page, great guys who come in to save the day when people get stuck offroad, but most of the "rescues" make you shake your head like WHY would you take a 1 wheel drive POS ford ranger out in mud pits with zero recovery gear alone in areas that are closed off to trespassers and expect anything good to happen? I think it enables people to make terrible decisions and ask for help getting out. it's rare to see people who post a rescue needed that you can't be blamed for getting in a bind in the first place.
I'll bet a case of beer that there's at least one person this weekend that drives into an active flood wash and calls for help on that page haha

Will do. I figured I'd give a a wheeler report when I got there. I'll have the bike make runs down the road.
