How is everyone mounting aftermarket tweeters in the stock tweeter wells (2002 SR5)? The previous owner removed the speaker along w/the bracket that attaches to the panel. Thanks.

Heh...heh...a good number of years back (12ish?) I had to deal with having horribly low storage capacity, right? So I had all my music files at 128kbps mp3. ~1mb per minute. Worked great. And I mostly listened on shit speakers, so I wasn't hearing a difference anyway.

Jump to current day. With over a decade of listening to 128kbps mp3, I have tuned my ears to "shit" sound. I still listen to everything at 128kbps mp3. :crapstorm:

I just don't have any truly high quality speakers to make use of high fidelity sound, and with a libaray of over 3K songs, I don't want to start "fixing" it. I've listened to my buddy's FLAC library on his like $800 over-ear headphones. Frankly, I didn't notice much difference. Perhaps slightly, but nothing nearly enough to ever convince me to convert.
I do appreciate production quality and overall skill in sound, but (ready for flak), you can appreciate those things and not have high fidelity audio. They are related, but not mutually exclusive.

1484780251166-1597677495.jpg Just went through the local carwash chain and they had to read me all of safety paperwork. I was told that my cube lights, antenna, bumper, and sliders could become damaged in the wash. I told the guy I'd be surprised if it could and he gets extra points if it does. Came out nice and shiny, truth be told I only wanted the underbody wash but you have to pay for the rest of it.

Bumper and sliders could get damaged in the wash lmao

I share your sentiments about the underbody. I wish there were an underbody only option at carwashes. But I have yet to find one. It would cost less, it's what I really care about washing, and while most are fine (and have been time after time), certain stickers are at risk for damage :anonymous:

Agree to disagree! I'm ruined on quality, 128kbps MPC or AAC just makes me turn the music off and enjoy silence

Yeah that too. Honestly my music tunes out my MTRs which I've always considered "quiet"
My music library used to be like this. But 320 is just so much better, if you have an aftermarket H/U with an equalizer you'll definitely notice the difference in audio quality.

What is FLAC, is it better than MP3? Are there any audio files better than MP3? Otherwise I'll just convert my files to the latter.
Why not wash it yourself? I never trust automated washes.

It's very cold (hence snow), and I didn't wanna spend the time because I'm just gonna go trash it again in a couple days.

Also FLAC is Free Lossless Audio Codec it is better but you can't convert to it. You need to get It in FLAC from the source

As is everyone else who has their ears attuned to better sound. Which, frankly, is actually another reason I choose not go that route. Ruined audio sounds like shit (static, popping, random blips or w/e, etc...) but just lower quality sound doesn't bother me. I still enjoy it.

Eh maybe. But the benefits don't seem great. It's far more work than worth it, and at this point, I will NEVER have to deal with storage capacity issues again lol

FALC =Free Lossless Audio Codec. It's a file format for lossless audio, whereas even the best MP3 at 320kbps is still compressed. FLAC has no compression. Of course, if you start from a compressed source, it doesn't matter. You need to go from uncompressed source to FLAC to reap the benefit. You can't up-encode.

I would wash, but when it's cold and Wintery, fuck hand washing. You don't have that problem...

Lossless or 320 kbps MP3 as in lossless file (apple lossless) or 320 kbps MP3.

And yeah, the raammat and ensolite makes a huge difference.

Apple likes using words that they don't fully understand. Although 320AAC is better than 320MP3 but still not lossless. Their lossless codec is actually called ALAC

Lol I forgot it's actually cold in other parts of the world.

I know a converter that offers FLAC but I get what y'all are saying that it needs to be from the original source otherwise it'll be useless and distorted.

    Holy shit balls.

Yes, most of my files are apple lossless (ALAC) with a bunch of them being 320 kbps MP3.

I'd keep them as FLAC but iTunes and iPods don't play that codec. So I convert them to apple lossless.

Cold is the main motivating factor... Plus my paint is ruined anyway so I don't care if the carwash is a bit rough or has some grit

FLAC is a lossless format, but its not true lossless. wav and bwav are the only true lossless audio formats. well..besides DXD and DSD but no one has the ability to play that in a car anyways.

FLAC and ALAC are completely fine IMO.

FLAC is also accepted in the hypercritical purist world of ROIO (bootleg) trading.

The only one I remember was a town over and I think it's not there anymore. At least I don't recall seeing it when I drive that road. But I will have to verify. That'd be pretty nice.
