Is my garage considered a shop?? Haha.

I honestly could work at a car audio shop. I have talked to some people in places like car toys and left thinking they were idiots! The last one was the worst of all and they didnt even work on my stereo... they installed a "pop lock" on my tail gate... this is what i got....
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBF3bG0Fzzs&t=1s
Guy told me there was not a way to lock/unlock my tailgate without buying another tailgate handle with a lock and key, said he called toyota and verified it.... I tried to show him what an actual poplock looks like and how it works but he didnt want anything to do with it.

Still need to have him remove it, but the number i call no longer works....

Checked my calendar and every weekend is open so I'm flexible - just need to give management both work and home :D some notice.

You can bring dogs into the park, they just don't allow them at the back country sites. As long as you clean up after them I'm sure no one would know. Just an FYI.

Appreciate the offer. I will definitely ask when the time comes to give it an upgrade. Every time I think about it buying the parts, I start pricing and end up at 1k+. Then I realize that there so much I want to do for self recovery/protection/camping and I stop looking. I then flip back and think I use the stereo the most out of everything so I should do it sooner than later. 1k can do quite a bit in other upgrades though. I'm all over the place on upgrades for the truck. Its so hard to decide...

Man i know how you feel... I have over 1k in the doors and amp alone... Could have saved a bit by not replacing the back door speakers but now i chalk it up to a lesson learned... Thinking about selling them and putting the stock ones back in...(not that i would even hear them) Use that money towards other mods!! haha.

You dont have to do that much to get a good system, but out of curiousity what are you looking to do?? Doors and subs, DSP, New HU (most expensive part usually)? Do you want it to be loud so everyone hears it (SPL), or do you want a great sound(SQL)? Each will play a huge part in how much you want to spend...

If you would like some feed back on my build i think that @Silverspool can vouch for me and my abilities to build and install a great system in these trucks, i gave him a quick demo this past weekend. FYI i went for a better sound over a louder sound...

    @SuperBad

Zacs system def has some clout, powerful yet clean. Trucks are tough since we dont have a boot to stuff boxes into, but if you do it right you can have a nice setup in the taco.

Im in about 1600 into my audio and it was all installed 3 days after i got the truck. I spend a lot of time in it and i want it to sound right. You can get out for cheaper, i went for expensive cables and unecessary install expense, i could have shaved 600 off the cost of mine.

If youre on the fence, my vote is to move forward with it. Ive never had stock audio and i dont think i ever could.

I dont need anyone to vouch for you. The goal would be better overall sound quality, that gets louder than the stock setup. I run with with the windows down as much as possible and wind noise over powers the stock stereo turned all the way up. Stock HU stays and I would add a good 10" sub, probably something like a JL 10w3. Door speakers and tweeters I would like to upgrade but those could be done down the road as long as I can get them a little louder. I'm not looking for crazy bass but something that fulfills the overall sound and can still hit decent when the music calls for more bass.

My first 2 cars had stereos in them. I went a little crazy and ran 3 JL 12's in a civic coupe for a long time. I'll never go that big again. My last 2 cars never got a stereo upgrade and I've been missing it.

W3 would be overkill, on cost and quality, esp if u keep stock doors for a while.

My alpine shallow mount (350w rms) was 140, but im sold on the 200 dollar sd3s that Zac is running

I tend to go overkill on everything I buy. The doors will get upgraded at some point so what ever I start with needs to work once its all upgraded.

I hear that. I've done many years ago before everything was so integrated. My truck is going to be in for sound deadening (floor, roof and doors) and front stage with active processing and sub and amps behind rear seats. I'm not in a rush as I'm still trying to build up the truck itself, but I'll touch base at one of the meets coming up to see if your interested in lending a hand and maybe building the box setup. For some cash considerations of course
