Ok long story time, but worth the read IMO.

My brother has been dating this girl for about 3 months and she seemed normal enough (can't say my brother is normal so they fit). She has a 6 year old and came to our prememorial dinner for my late stepdad, came to the memorial, Christmas dinner in my house and a couple other family dinners. Everything seemed fine with her and enjoyable to be around.

Well a few weeks ago my brother sends me a text with a picture of her getting his initials tattooed on her forearm. Let me remind you they have been dating for 3 months...I think it's super weird but didn't ask much about it or if it is really for him or just a coincidence. Didn't think this chick would be around long enough based on how my brother talked about her and his track record with girlfriends.

Fast forward to Sunday and my wife notices her brand new Coach wallet is missing and we can't remember when we saw it last. She used it Friday night at dinner with her friends so we call the restaurant, nothing there. We also went to one place on Saturday which was the roller rink for my daughters friends bday party. Call there, nothing, check with the mom, nothing. We are stumped at this point. Luckily it only had her license, debit, credit card and $10 as she hadn't transferred everything over yet. Not a huge loss except the actual wallet.

It then donned on both of us that the GF had been over for dinner with my brother both Friday and Saturday. She also came back into our house on Saturday and asked us if we've seen her wallet as she thought she brought it. We looked for a few minutes and told them we would call if we find it. We brushed it off as no way she would do that to us especially since she has been so involved with our family. We ask my brother anyways if anyone accidentally grabbed it looking for hers that night and he said no.

Well my wife is randomly up Sunday night at 5 am with my daughter and is checking Facebook. What does she see? My brothers GF posting in the classifieds the exact same wallet for only $20 (it's a $150 wallet new). She wakes me up, shows me and is livid. She comments she'll buy it and can't go back to sleep after that. We both think this is way too much of a coincidence and call my brother in the morning. He is pissed and agrees it's too weird and coincidental to not be true. He was at work but said he would call/ask her about it when he was off.

The gf finally has the nerve to comment back to my wife and says since we are "practically family" she would give it to us. To which my wife comments that she knows she stole it and just wants it back and all her stuff (cards). The girl plays dumb and says she "found" it months ago empty (it's supposedly the new model). My wife wants to check it out before accusing her more so we agree to meet and buy it. My wife is too mad at this point to meet with her face to face so I do the exchange and she shows up with her son, tries to refuse the $20 but ends up taking it and says they will see us soon. I didn't make a fuss there as her son was with her (6 years old and innocent), my daughter is watching from the truck and we were in a grocery store parking lot.

We check out the wallet and it looks ezaxtly the same but is "damaged". Two slices from a nice on the back. The edges are ripped and the pockets are ripped, but the rest of the wallet is perfect. Not one scratch or blemish anywhere. Basically we are convinced it's ours and she ruined our brand new wallet to try and convince us otherwise. We tell my brother and he confronts her today. She denies right away but he told her they have serial numbers and the wallet she sold us matched the records we have for it. To which she replies "oh" and doesn't try to defend herself. At this point he is convinced and so are we. He's breaking up with her (which sucks for him as he liked her and up to this point had no reason to suspect anything) but I doubt we will get our money or cards back. We are so pissed right now and weighing our options. Just can't believe someone could pull that shit after being invited into our home and was holding our 6 month old hours before. We think she might have taken it when my wife got home on Friday and we didn't notice till Sunday and used the "I lost my wallet in your house" bit to see if we mentioned my wife's going missing. Or took it Saturday and used that to get my brother out of the car to hide the wallet for the ride home.

Really shows how shady some people are and for literally $30 in cash...

For those that don't want to read a novel:

Lost wallet, found out brothers gf stole it from our house, we catch her selling it and she sells it back to us damaged.

Had a friend I worked with for about 3 years stay at our house the weekend before she transferred (we were stationed in Italy), we partied all weekend, got up Sunday morning and were enjoying coffee and smokes out on the balcony before we were all about to go out to breakfast...had about $250 euro sitting on our dresser in our bedroom (with the door closed)...she walked out to use the restroom...and then just disappeared with no word, didn't notice the money gone until that afternoon when we went to pay our electrical bill that that money had been sitting on. Found her on FB a couple years later and asked her about it, she blocked me on the spot. Wowza lol.

I still don't want to believe it. Baffles me how cold people can be when our family has been so welcoming to her. She watch my whole family cry at my stepdads memorial and sit at my table for dinner but can still pull that shit. Just wrong.

Yeah I'd understand more with kids especially if they have morally questionable parents but an adult?

That's low, people suck. I'm building a "great" wall as the T man described it around my house now. Keep all the crazies out now.

Damn bro that's some real Jerry Springer shit right there.

Man Sorry to hear that. That's gotta be a big bummer for your family. Dont think I would've handled it as cool as you did.

But look at the bright side this could've happened 6 months or a year from now when shit between them was more serious.
