It had been listed as one way on old maps, but the two times we traveled it, people were going both directions. The narrow pass between the Diablo Drop Off and Fish Creek is rocky, and if you are not comfortable going through it, then you would need to drive back up the Drop Off. I heard they ran a grader over it after my last time there.

Before that group trip, my wife and I did that run the other (correct?) way from S-2 to Fish Creek via Diablo Drop Off and Broken Shaft Gulch (March 2010):

We soon came upon a Jeep group having lunch, that was just ahead of us at the Drop Off. They were totally blown away that my new, stock Tacoma went through Broken Shaft Gulf without a dent or scratch... walking around my truck doing an inspection! LOL, Silly Jeepers, Toys are for grown boys!

Here is one of their rigs at the Drop Off:

So the 05-06 Tacomas are breaking frames at the drivers side engine perch for the mount. Did one yesterday and its not an easy job. Here are some before and after of the drivers side.

Before, over 1/2" pushed in and frame completely torn!

Tac welded it after pulling it out..

Not much space in there I must say.

That's a bad spot. I'm going to beef up mine soon for preventative maintenance. In case I get the itch to jump my rig.

Diablo Dropoff is still only one-way travel; the Park Rangers give citations to people who go up it because it erodes the trail.
