I'm doing the grey wire mod on my 01 ext cab right now and found this other connector behind the kick panel. It's not hooked to anything and there doesn't seem to be a plug for it to connect to. Anyone know what it is?

Hmm. I've got power locks, windows, and mirrors. Only thing I can think of that I don't have is keyless entry.

I just got finished cutting off connectors and wiring behind the kickpanel from an '04 Limited for my manual doors to powered doors conversion. Behind the driver's side kick panel is the 4WD Computer and Alarm Module. It looks like it's in the right place for it. Could be something else but that's what I remember unplugging.

I wouldn't sweat it if youre concerned thats fur sure. Some guys get all sorts of worried shit is missing when they find an unused connector, even though their truck has performed flawlessly for years with out it being used lol. If you really start poking around you will find all sorts of unused connectors all over the place, toyota used a universal harness on the trucks so there are a multitude of unused connectors on all our trucks from various options and components that differed from truck to truck and model to model.

Yeah your mechanism that controls your CC functions is under the hood but the lil brain for it is in the cab, fyi. Not saying its where your unused connector is, just saying there is a brain detached from the under hood mechanism...

Thanks for the help. I'm pretty sure it's the alarm plug. I don't have a factory alarm. I'm not worried about it, just wanted to see if it was something I could use or put in.

The factory alarm module is up behind the black part of the dash, almost vertical against the part that touches the door when closed. Its not near the kick panel.

Also the cruise control module for me was on the passenger side IIRC. Heres a pic from mine, it is definitely plugged into something. It may be just for the 2.7L engines. They used the same harnesses for different cars, i have plugs on my truck for 4WD components i dont have.

When I was cutting the partial wiring harness for the door off the '04 Limited there was a module plugged in directly under the door component plugs behind the kick panel. You're right in saying the alarm module is back up behind the dash, but I know a module was directly under the plugs. It was the 4WD Computer if I remember correctly. I unplugged both of them since they were in the way. The connectors look really similar.

You can see it in the picture below the door plugs, it's covered in foam. This is just what I remember, I could be completely wrong.

Interesting. Mine is 2wd, but they are definitely plugged into a harness for something, no 4wd module though. It could be A/T related, maybe some California emissions shit.

Might as well just start unplugging stuff and see what happens.
