I am thinking about pulling the trigger on a Tacoma that is 1999 with 133,000 miles Xtra Cab PRerunner 6 cylinder automatic. Looks clean on the inside and outside. The asking price is $5,500 Below are some pictures...

Do you think this is to good of a deal to pass up? What are some things I should look for when I check the car out? Or questions I should ask the buyer?

I had a 99 only white . I love that truck and wish I still had it ! Ask for maint records . Check for rust , check to see if it was in a accident. Check the condition of the oil . Take if for a drive . See how it shifts . If it makes you feel better do a car fax. If all checks out go for it .

    Nothing.
Auto and manual both have advantages/disadvantages. Just a matter of personal preference.

As long as you don't need 4wd, there is no frame rust, and you can live with the price, then it seems to be a good deal if it checks out. I would anticipate a taco that meets of that to sell relatively quickly, so test drive it asap. They often can sell within 24 hours where I live, especially if priced under market value. If it means anything, I love my 99.

take a flashlight and crawl underneath and look at the frame! test drive it long enough to see if any codes pop, just in case they erased them. maintenance record when the timing belt...etc was changed

Looks like it was repainted. Its a CA truck, so there should be no rust. Aftermarket wheels, lowered value. Get a carfax. How does the owner look, does he talk with an accent?

seems like a fair price if everything checks out, sold mine for $5k a while back but it had more miles and the paint was in poor shape on the roof.

Clean trucks inside and out scare me everyone over the years I looked at.

The appearance was more important then the drive train and suspension owners spent hours washing and waxing

Then some would rather a nice pretty appearance .
