The truck was being towed literally from that parking lot, across the street and into the Toyota dealer parking lot. I was literally looking at the Toyota dealer waiting for the tow truck. I called the service department at the dealership... apparently they cannot leave the premises. It pissed me off because they could have walked for 4 minutes and looked at the truck while I sat and waited for a tow truck.

They figured out it wasn't the parking break causing the issue, its being caused by the actual foot pressure on the break. The first time I had all-ready pulled forward about 10 feet.

I had the same problem in Florida if the truck wasn't moved for a period of time. Turns out the moisture in the air combined with the salinity caused the shoes to rust to the drum. I solved the problem by not using the parking brake.

What did they say caused your brake to break? Foot pressure sounds odd, what did they say that meant? Piston locked up, star adjuster messed up, shoes didn't disengage after you released the parking brake?

The truck is only a year old, never been in the salt, the undercarrage looks clean and not rusty at all.

Its hard not to use the parking brake in a stick shift...

While rather soon, don't be so quick to jump to conclusions. These days it's tough to rule out some doofus getting a pressure washer where it needn't be whether owner or someone hired to detail.

Moot anyway since OP says the parking brake wasn't the culprit.

You should be able to use the parking brake. I always do so whether driving an AT or MT.

About to leave to pick up the truck. They took the whole thing apart and decided it was all fine. They wont replace anything.

I also mentioned my vibrating hood issue and totally brushed me off.

If they have to tow me again because they didn't fix the issue they are going to took pretty dumb.

Uggh, that sounds annoying. Any other dealer you can call if/when it happens again?

I wonder if a malfunction caused the Atrac to apply brake pressure to that back wheel and after time it bled off.

Interesting. A negative battery terminal pull next time it seizes might help discern if it's the electronics or mechanical. Now if a mechanical bit in the ABS system is sticking and holding pressure that might not work.

You're right, the brakes should not lock up with "little water", and I'm not sure you missed the post where I mentioned the 65 degree temperature. We can both agree on that. When I said water, I was thinking back on the time I had a frozen rear wheel on a Ford Freestar. There was 12" of snow on the ground and the temps dropped to "just below freezing" so it was a big fluffy wet snow. Bride came home from work and parked the van. The rear wheel seized up because it was wet from driving and the temps dipped a bit and froze everything up. That was the first thing that entered my mind when the OP mentioned his problem. What really made me think it was frozen because I'm living in the NE and it's winter now !!!

As a manual transmission owner and new Californian I understand the need for the parking brake but in Florida it's flat so I could easily get away with it. Haha.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
You're not supposed to tow them with any wheels touching the ground. They are supposed to be towed via flat bed or on dollies. Good thing he was only across the street.

    Wow!

That is almost 70 hours a month behind the wheel, almost 2 full work weeks.

Is that just your commute or do you drive for your work?
