Thank god I've got 3 manual transmissions (4 if you count the spare A833OD I picked up this weekend to rebuild) to offset my 2 automatics. Otherwise I'd have to turn in my man card

 

I got my truck in AT in case my wife ever had to drive it... she doesn't drive MT. I tried teaching her once but it didn't go very well.

 

Never driven a MT car, only motorcycle....

 

Or married. Fortunately my 92 has a stick

Teach her in 4-lo (in a dirt parking lot, obviously). That lets her get a feel for how the clutch works without the risk of stalling it thanks to the gear reduction. Then once she's got a feel for it put into 2-hi. Learning on a truck is much easier than learning on a car because of the longer clutch travel. Lets you get a feel for the friction zone.

 

My father bought an old manual 2 door Wrangler POS with something like a 2 liter engine. It was fun to learn on, but if you made it to 50mph the entire thing would shake.

 

Wish I could, but since my truck is AT I can't do that...

 

Obviously not now, no. But if you want a stick again at some point in the future, that'll be the way to teach her. I've taught a couple of so-called 'hopeless cases' how to drive stick exactly that way.

It's even better if you borrow somebody else's truck, lol. Then it's not your clutch!

2.5, probably. Torquey enough to get around with, but definitely out of breath at higher speeds.

Wifey doesn't either. Got the MT anyway and gave her the name of a driving school that'll teach how to drive a stick.

Nope. I guess I can't get one then. It would be nice though with the 3.5 eco...

 

Nope. Even the base 2wd comes with a slushbox.

 

Pretty sure the only full size truck can buy with a manual is the Ram 2500 with cummins, but they detune the cummins to 650tq. They may have dropped it at this point though.

 

Cupcake's Tacoma was a stick, but the clutch was on the way out. She was able to limp it along so we figured when it came time to get it done is when she'd show me how to drive it.

Before that happened the truck got bought back.
