Could you elaborate a little bit on that? Was kind of deliberating between bolt-on and weld-on myself.

he means if you total your truck but the sliders survive would you get another tacoma? because then you'd be able to just unbolt and re use those.

I personally would probably go 4runner, plus I just like the added strength of weld on.

I see. Shit, $500 sliders on a totaled truck ain't worth it to use bolt ons huh? Most of the time you can reason with the insurance folks to take all the aftermarket stuff off right? Just take a cutting wheel or a torch out there...

that's kinda my thought, to be able to cut them off if you want them...but I don't really know and hope I never come into that situation.

but if you have them as bolt ons then they are much easier to remove and re install

True. I'm curious as to the structural integrity of the bolted connection for bolt on sliders. I mean a 3/4" heat treated bolt is a tough sum bitch. So is the only advantage to welding the price difference?

I bought bolt on sliders because if you have a frame problem (rust) then toyota will not replace the frame of you've welded anything to it.

There generally is not a drastic price difference. I Have bolt on and have lifted the truck with them, drug my truck across them. I have installed weld on sliders as well i prefer bolt on for a number of reasons as dave said that if there is ever a frame recall or any issue that is due to a manufacturer defect then i want bolt on. There is not structural difference the structural side of it is does it have a plate that wraps all the way around the frame a "U" shaped bracket or is it just tubing welded to the frame? The only thing that i will weld to my frame possibly i say possibly because it may never happen is a between the frame rail shock mount to run extended shocks at a better angle! Bottom line its your money not mine and your truck not mine so do what you want. But coming from a guy who owns a tacoma that is my DD accidents happen shit happens you cannot forsee the future but make a good investment that way if you had to remove it all you could do so easily not a torch and a damn cutoff wheel then have to refurb your sliders to make them work on another vehicle.
