I think me and you could likely design a non functional hood with out much engineering background :D :D

That would be a very good source for CAI , all you need to do is make the scoop functional then fab a cold air pan on the underside of the hood . Then a 4" tube from the pan to the throttle body

I'd take a fake scoop over my regular hood any day. I just don't love it enough to, say ... send an email or even post in the swap thread. Mainly because it would force me to temporarily be social with at least one person I do not know.

Being a pedantic asshole, that's technically not a scoop. That's more duct work, like people who run duct work from their bumpers to cool their brakes. :luvya:

Ram air is for marketing. The front of the hood is low pressure, which is why hood Louvers work, they pull air out of the engine bay. Cowl induction works, which is why your vents pull from there.

The radiator area is also low pressure which is why your engine fan will kick in even on the freeway.

Edit: Which is why there is no reason to make a functional hood scope. And even if you did make it work, the drag it would create would counter any benefits/ hp you would receive.

But maybe if you were an army ranger with 8 doctorates in engineering and go on boat rides you could figure out how to make it work.

Trying to count mine from memory..

    (2) Bedside Decals (TRD 4x4 Sport - they come stock)
    (1) TRD Pro shift Knob (because it helps me slam from P to D faster)
    (1) JDM Spec TRD radiator cap (actually I'm not sure if it even says TRD on it - UPDATE: it does)
    (1) TRD Billet Oil Cap

    TOTAL: 5

Gotta count both Tacoma AND TRD, outside only. For this one, as for my truck....
    (2) Bed side TRD decals
    (2) Tacoma badges, 1 on the left and right
    (1) Tacoma embezzled logo in tailgate

    = 5 Total all around

Hell of a lot more functional than the non-scoop scoop on the hood... granted that's not saying much, but still.

yeah, for about a day until it was delivered.

meh, not too long then, time enough to notice any
difference after adding it? I have the same CAI just
    no front ram air.

Quieted it down a bit... for the one day, I was running it without the front plug.
