My experience was positive sitting in coach. Plane ride is smooth and it's very quiet inside. Interior is spacious and coach seats are coach sized; material is decent & feels ok since it's a relatively new plane. Each seat has its own video screen with personal entertainment system, but I think you have to use their headphone system since it's a 2 plug auxiliary jack system and not 1.

One nuance to Lufthansa I'm not sure you are aware of but they charge you to pick your seat in advance so just bear that in mind.

Hopefully I touched on the important parts, but anything else you are curious about?

Thanks for the information. Right now it looks like my best option is through Newark on United but the prices change daily. Riding in coach did you feel like it was needed to pick your seat? I'm slender but 6'2" and want to make sure I have enough legroom. Usually I can just kick them out in the aisle.

It's 3-4-3 setup, so if you want to run the risk of ending up with a middle/window seat then go for it. Options may be available when you check in (it opens 24 hours before departure which is when you can pick your seat). Flying alone (I'm 5'7") I've been less concerned about picking seats beforehand, but flying with my wife we went once when we didn't pick (and I don't recall if we checked in 24 hours prior) and we ended up not sitting next to each other which was not the greatest (some may say that's a good thing but this was early on when we were still engaged ).

As long as it's not outrageous to pick seats I'll probably go that route. I'm getting the tickets fairly cheap.

Where & when? I'll be hitting the EU a few times this year. Are in NOLA? Don't be afraid to shop other departure cities...can save you $100s.

Last time I rode LH it was a 747 combi, in coach & smoking. Not pleasant.

I'll be there 2/23-3/1 and 4/6-4/16, both times in Florence. I'm in Baton Rouge and have looked at both Houston airports, BTR, MSY, and all of the regional airports in between. All of the best options at this point are out of Houston-Intercontinental

My options right now are, ending in Rome:
Delta/KLM with a stop in Atlanta outbound and Amsterdam inbound
    Lufthansa/United with stops in Frankfurt

    Ending in Milan:
    United with stops in Newark
    Lufthansa with stops in Frankfurt

Nice nice. Florence has lots of cool stuff to see. It's def a good central location to visit areas in Southern Europe (if ur time is limited). Are you making more than one trip or doing some extra travel between 3/1 & 4/6? Work, vacation or combination?

All of your connection stations are easy man as long as you can walk and have a little time to clear.

Have you been before? Will you be driving? I've rented & driven several times and it's easy from Rome or Milan (both great sight seeing cities). Just have to get used to some lane sharing not seen as much here or the countries to the north in the EU.

Take lots of pic AND SHARE.

I love Florence, I had the opportunity to spend a week there a few summers ago and I loved the city. I'm going for fun to visit my girlfriend who's studying abroad so we may take a few day trips, especially on my long trip.
I've traveled to Venice, Milan, Florence, and Paris but all of my connecting flights have been in the US until now. Going to train from Milan/Rome to Florence. I'll be sure to fully document the trip

Flights are booked! Dallas/Ft.Worth to Milan-Malpensa via JFK and back. Not getting the chance to fly on anything new/interesting but 4 1/2 hours on a regional jet should be fun....

All great cities and amazing history.

    Oh no shit, RJs sucks.

I think Pisa could be a good day trip (tho I didn't find a lot to see other that the leaning tower) but, if you have a few days, I'd recommend Rome. Even if you're not Catholic Vatican City is really something to see. Of course being a flatlander myself I like the mountains too so north to any of the Alps is great.

I'm excited for you. I'll be watching TW live.
