    lol!

Agree that the taco is a nice compromise. For me, it's not a necessity, but a nice to have kind of thing. I'm a gear head, so i'm always looking for more.

I wanted to say that 3 added hp, 2 more gears and cylinder deactivation isn't real muscle but I won't. :)

The Canyorado twins were not lacking for HP before at 306, just like the Tacoma is not lacking for HP at 278.

The difference is in a transmission that finally uses the available power more effectively.

Shaving a second off 0-60 and 3/4 of a second in the 1/4 is a significant improvement.

Outdated source, though those numbers for the Tacoma seem optimistic compared to other tests.

Good thing that 2.7L isn't a nearly $5k premium option then, huh?

It's on the internet.... so.... it has to be right?

My whole point was supporting what was previously stated. Different sources, different numbers.

I once had a 2001 Silverado and the quality just wasn't there. I'd never own another "Government Motors" vehicle. Had a Traverse also and it had issues. As for speed, let me pick the course and I'll take on the GM twins with my 6 speed manual TRD Sport. They will not out handle the Sport. Besides, I'll always enjoy more resale value.

They've improved their Quality greatly. I had a 2011 GMC Sierra and it was perfect. Probably should have kept it, in fact!

Not really apples-to-apples, but no one complains that the 0-60 time for an H1 Hummer is about 30 minutes.

RE: "turdgen" 0 to 60 is a red herring debate anyway. The complaint on these Tacomas is more related to power band and low end torque....not speed.

I have driven my Dad's Colorado a few times, and I thoroughly enjoy driving my Tacoma better. I didn't notice a significant power difference, but I wasn't really thinking about performance metrics when picking the truck out.

He likes everything about it except for the seats lol. He has taken it a few times since my lift and always has positive comments about the ride. Were both "car guys" and wouldn't really expect amazing performance numbers from a mid size truck. Hopping out of one into the other its hard to tell the difference in performance.

It's a f***ing mid-size truck for goodness sake. Who really gives a crap about how fast "off the line" it will go? If jack-rabbit starts are your thing just add the cost of tires, transmission service, and brakes (having to stop faster) to the operating cost of your vehicle. I can certainly afford (not bragging) a loaded Tundra ($60K+) but again....in the end it just a truck! I love this forum and have learned a lot about my 16' SR5 V6 Tacoma and have had all the items mentioned from ill-fitting window molding to transmission updates taken care of that were made aware to me on TW. But I must admit, I am amazed some of the $$$ some of the members have plowed into their vehicles through modifications, add-ons, accessories, etc. But, I'm sure others would look at my Tacoma and say "what a plain Jane" vehicle. But my Harley...the money I have put into it verses what it is worth today borders on the ridiculous!

Love them or hate them, Ford has changed the perception of pickup trucks.

When you tromp on the loud pedal of an Ecoboost F150, you are rewarded with a serious rush of torque.

Once people experience that, they expect all trucks to be at least somewhat comparable.
