Looking forward to a great community of information. Picked up an '11 doublecab sr5 and its the real deal family/house utility vehicle.

Looking at nerf vs. Sliders for the steps in for wife n kids. Nerfs good, sliders can do the same, but are thy overkill on an sr5 thas not really crawling out yhere? Not much more than nerfs. Thats what this place will help me find, the answers. Lets all have fun.

Welcome! If you're just needing steps, then sliders are indeed overkill. Sliders mount to the frame and are designed to take the impact of the truck falling on rocks and such. Steps mount to the body and act as just that. Any sizable hit to them may damage the mounting location.

Undrstood. I was thinking theyre not much more so why not. Steps plus more. Like you say, a hit on bars could damage the mounting place where a hit on sliders wont o much. But it is an sr5 so im probably not getting too far into the deep woods where id really need em.

Not sure what steps you're looking at, but sliders are substantially more. They start out around $500 which doesn't include shipping (another ~$100) whereas steps are like $200-$300. If you're considering them though, then you might as well go for it! Where are you located? If you're close to a vendor you could save on shipping.

Around denver. I should go to a shop and talk about it a bit, see differences in positioning/heights.

If you end up going the slider route and getting them built to order, order them at 0°. Then they'll be more flat and act as a step much better. If you want one that is 100% bolt on, check out @Mobtown Offroad. They make good stuff and have great customer service.
