Curious as to if a 2nd gen taco body lift will fit a 3rd gen taco

I am pretty sure it does. @ToyTec Lifts can you confirm?

They have a 1" body lift on their 3rd Gen now.

I've looked for a thread on here that's nothing but pics of 3rd gen's with lifts, without lifts, with different wheels and tires, different mods, etc with it listed what is done, what it has etc and I can't find it. Does anyone know if there is one?

 

Unfortunately I have never seen a thread that clean at all in TW. Let's ask a mod. @sean266 does such a thread exist?

 

I had the Toytec Ultimate Lift Kit on my 2015 and loved how the front end rode. But, I purchased the progressive AAL and it rode like a nightmare. I had this installed by the Toyota of Dallas dealership and they never mentioned anything about removing the overload spring. I noticed on here that quite a few people did that on theirs. Is it common practice to do that on a progressive AAL? Looking back, I assume they didn't offer because it may void the warranty I still had or something. Not really sure. I know that it rode fantastic with about 500 lbs in the bed!

I am looking at lifts for my 2016 and I am pretty much set on Dakar leaf pack. But I'm not 100%. I'm still willing to get an AAL if my issue was due to the overload spring. Would really like some input on the rear end options.

I have a 2016 Tacoma DBL cab, TRD OR.
I did send a email to Marie at Headstrong this morning.

I bought some Bilsteins 5100 3rd generation, for front and back, nothing else as in over coils etc.
I assume I would set the front Bilsteins to the 2nd notch = 0.65", to level out my truck?

For reference I rarely go-off road except sand and my goal of sorts is a better ride via the Bilsteins and at best a 1" lift with leveling.
Any input and /or real life experience greatly appreciated!

Let us know if you have any questions on some kits. We can match up what would be best used with the Dakars in the rear. All the options we have for the '16 are very good quality and great on and off-road performance.

 

I'll post this here in order to avoid creating a useless thread. Been searching around a lot and can't find a definitive answer.

I am going the dakar route for the rear of my 2016 TRDOR DC. Camper shell + prinsu rack + 100lbs of gear in the back at all times is the daily configuration. I am looking to pair the dakars with the non-resi extended length icon rear shocks.

My question is: do I NEED to extend my brake lines for this set-up? I understand it is good practice, but plenty of people suggest not doing the brake extension w/ dakars. curious if the extended length shocks would cause the limiting variable of my rear to be the brake lines. This would be no bueno.

We usually recommend extended rear brake lines. Especially if the truck is going to be going off-road a bit. Its definitely not necessary but we do find that the Tacoma rear brake lines do need a bit extra if you are lifting. Give us a call and we can walk you through anything.

I'm long time viewer of this forum and finally got my 2017 TRD off road 4x4. I want a lift to clear larger tires and be more off-road worthy. I plan on running 275 size tires with stock off-road wheels. I was looking at icon coilovers with a Dakar leafpack in the back. Would I need to change out the rear stock shock when I do this or could I keep them until I can afford the rears as well? Or save and do it all at once? Will I need new Uca, I've heard mixed things. I have never worked on a truck or changed suspension but I work with tools all day and understand complex installations as I'm a casework and laboratory installer. Would this be something I can do in the garage to get to know my vehicle better or would you recommend a professional? Thanks for any imput

This is a Toytec thread. Why are there questions concerning another vendors products? Maybe im off base.

 

Has anyone put a 305/55 20 under a 3/2 lift? Just wondering about results and how bad it rubbed, how much trimming was needed, if it was worth it, etc.

 

What size diameter is that in inches?
