2017 Ridgeline vs 2016 Tacoma

In defense of the ridgeline I think it is a very practical vehicle. Most people who buy a truck, especially a lot of fleets, don't need ground clearance or off road capability. In Australia there are tons of small utes with flatbeds or boxes on the back for deliveries or repairmen. They seem to do fine. The ridgeline does not fit my needs and I wouldn't buy one but I think it is a practice vehicle for a lot of people. Exciting? Absolutely not. Let it begin.

 

Ridgeline in USA don't make good fleet vehicles in Usa as it's too expensive

Tacoma SR model at $22k make good fleet trucks

 

My neighbor has one, he went from 1st gen ridgeline to ecoboost 150(had it for a month) then went and got new ridgeline, suits his needs, he seems to like it

 

In Canada all RL come standard with awd and all of the above safety features. The only thing the base LX model doesn't come standard with is sun roof and rear sliding window (any). A lot of the RL owners in the US are just a bit upset that we get all of those things standard .

If you only do street driving or hard packed gravel roads and you don't mind that it only comes in the short bed version then it might be the right vehicle. For me I only wanted an access cab, long bed and I needed to get to our hunt camp every year as well as take my dirt bike to my fave riding spots which aren't reachable without proper 4x4 with low gear and ground clearance.

Agree it's apples to oranges. And I don't put much stock in all the awards, etc. But it does seem they did a pretty good job with it. For most people the RL is plenty of truck.

 

Ridgeline is probably the most practical vehicle any of us will come across. But it doesn't make me wet. I only buy trucks that make me wet.

Walked away from the TRD Pro Tacoma mostly because of the delays, bumbling Toyota dealership and over msrp pricing.

For anyone who wants to check my man card, come wheeling with me in my Land Cruiser or race with me in my RC-F

Seriously, the Ridgeline is obviously the truck for people who don't need a pickup truck for off-roading.

You have a land crusier, rcf and new ridgeline? Fml I'm over here barely affording my Tacoma.

 

If you truly did this be aware the RL has its issues as well.
Water intrusion in the wiring harness causing dash lights to go crazy, tailgate mechanism hanging up, no locking tailgate, slow power windows, just to name a few.

 

The MSRP on a Ridgeline is pretty much the same as a Pro (depending on location). Did they come down on the price of the RL?

 

Sounds like he doesn't belong here anymore.

 

I've read about some issues on the RL, but like the Tacoma, I'm confident it's well-built and if I have issues, I'm confident the Honda dealership will make it right. That was part of the decision to me-the company culture at the dealerships themselves.

Hey, I'm a Toyota guy though and through. I've owned more than you might believe. But the Ridgeline is a fantastic truck, no doubt about it.

Besides, I'm 38 now and maybe the Ridgeline is more geared to a dad with kids who does Home Depot runs and has other weekend cars for fun.

The current Ridgeline with 6 speed auto is best to get

The new trans in pilot and 2018 odyssey which the Ridgeline will get is being very problematic already
