Is anyone running any kind of HUD system on their tacomas?

I wish they integrated this into the 3rd gens..

That caught my attention, too. They took a stock photo of an E46 BMW and did a really shitty photoshop job to add that HUD to the image. Leaving in both KPH and MPH was dumb, too. But hey, at least they matched the fake HUD's speed display to the car's 130kph on the speedo. Didn't bother matching the RPMs, though.

I had a HUD on my Prius. It was cool at first but the novelty didn't last and it was very hard to see with sunglasses on.

It would add too much money to these trucks. The box that houses the projection unit in the IP would have to sit far back enough (if it cannot be made smaller, also $$$) to allow the proper viewing due to the angle of the windshields on the Tacos. The glass also need to be optically treated or impregnated with an optical laminate ($$$) for the best image quality in all conditions. We're complaining about easily broken glass now... LOL.

I doubt Toyota will ever do this on a Taco.

Anybody ever have it project onto the speedo? There are some numbers the stock gauges don’t provide like actual temp and manifold pressure which is useful for optimizing gear selection. No it’s not a space time machine but it’s been a tad too dummed down for my taste.

I had it on my C6 Corvette and quite honestly would forget it was there. I have been glancing down at a manual speedometer gauge for 45 years and old habits are very hard to break.

Now I do see the value in a heads up display for a car that can do 150+ mph, but it does seem a bit silly for a brick on wheels pickup truck.

I have a HUD on my truck, by Hudway Drive. My set up is right on top of my dash, it displays constant Engine Temp (left widget), Speedometer (main) and Battery Voltage (right widget).

Phone notifications are probably the most useful feature. As they will also pop up on the HUD allowing you to always keep an eye of what is in front of you. The Speedometer will shift over and L/R widgets fade out to give you about half of the screen to read your notification.

It may not be for everyone though. The lens comes pretty close to the windshield while the projectors portion kind of sticks out towards the steering wheel, which can hit your fingers as you turn the wheel.
