Things are good. I put off the extraction till the 3rd. But they called me today and want me to get back with them.

I dont want to lose another day of work but they wont extract on fridays.

Swelling is almost gone. I just really, really dont want to lose this tooth. But I need to check about an implant.

 

They usually wait until all the swelling and infection is gone. Why can't they just do a root canal? Wouldn't need an implant for that. Or is the implant cheaper?

 

Its cracked below the gum line and yea, implant prob is about the same price.

He said he could save it, but I would be back in another 6 months. Visually, its fine. Somehow its cracked down the center under the crown.

oh damn, yea that sounds like implant time. a root canal would probably end up a waste of money in the long run. I guess I've been lucky with mine considering my teeth grinding severeness.

I think it's better you're waiting longer to get it fixed. I had my wisdom teeth pulled after only a few days of antibiotics after an infection. Puss fountain. Most disgusting thing ever. I'm surprised I didn't projectile all over my dentist.

Thats kinda why im waiting for the infection to clear up. I hear the smell is.....well, pretty bad.
They were all gung ho to pull it after the specialist told me it was a waste of money to fix it.

My portion of the root canal would have been $280

The specialist charged me $200 for telling me it wasnt worth saving.... i literally was in there for like 7 mins. My dr. Had already fwd the x rays.

Pretty much what happened to me.

 

I hae that specialist crap and they charge you for nothing. My regular dentist is pretty decent about not doing anything.
I had a root canal in september. It was a molar so the root canal before the crown ate up all my dental. Ended up costing me 1k after the $80 copay of the root canal. Currently have an appointment next week for two cavaties to be filled that I had to wait on. Fingers crossed they haven't grow in size.

 

Sounds like yours is worse. I just pack more chewing tobacco in mine

 

I thought it was weird that my dr. Didnt do root canals. Or maybe he couldnt do a "re" root canal. So he sends me to a second party "specialist" who sends me back to the 1st party for the extraction.....to get sent to a 3rd party for the implant. Like wtf?

These guys probably all play golf on the weekends together talking about how much they ream people insurance companies.

 

I think the first specialist you had to go to is real. I was sent to one too. I think he was an endodontist or some bs? It was my number 2. so All the way in the back on top. My regular dentist had done my first canal, but that was a front tooth. I guess they change that much in difficulty or complexity?

 

Its possible. Maybe because I already had a root canal on that tooth about 10 yrs ago is why my dr. Couldnt do it.
I think the 3rd party for the implant is a orthodonic surgeon.
