What do ya'll think of a 6in Maxtrac spindle lift on 17x9 w/ 285/70/17 ko2s? Would this combo look weird with a 17" wheel? How about a 4" spindle lift? I have a 2wd so don't need some fancy lift kit, either one of them would come with Bilstein shocks

Glad this place is back on track. Speaking of, I'm currently running Bilstein 6112s/5160s and a progressive AAL. It's a nice setup but I'm looking for better now. Thinking hard about Fox 2.5 Extended COs 3" front. Fox 2.0 Extended 3" rear and Dakars with will all the necessary goodies. Thinking of 275s or 255/80r17s (love the skinny look). Haven't seen a whole lot of Fox around here. If anyone can chime in on ride quality it would be much appreciated.

The third gens sit 1" higher in the front than the 2nd gens. I've heard that if you run a 3" in the front, you really limit your downtravel. I'd check with whoever you purchase from.

I think he has 887s in the front (not totally sure) I'd also be interested as to what size tire tho.

Looking to install Icon coilovers on my 2017 TRD off road.

Icon coils in front and leaf pack in back, from researching probably a Dakar leaf pack. I any other good options please let me know.

Is it possible to keep stock bilstiens in the back?

I don't need a huge lift, just enough to clear 275 tires and be a little more off-road worthy. I want quality parts and a lot of guys are running the icons as quality option.

I've never done suspension work, with that said I make a living with tools as a installer/lab casework and fume hoods. is this something I should jump in and do myself. I plan to off-road a lot and will eventually need to have the know how.

Let me know if you get feedback! Looking to do the 4" Spindle Lift from Maxtrac. Was thinking about the same wheel/tire combo as well.

Icons are a solid option, it's what I'm running on my 17. That said, if you go with the Dakar leaf pack, you're definitely going to need new shocks, especially if you are spending time offroad. They add a considerable amount of rear lift, so the icon progressive aal might be a better option for you.

As for the install, it's very easy. I've installed about 20 lifts for other members and have do the whole truck in 3 hours, less if I fire up my air compressor and use the air tools. Feel free to PM me and I can give you a few tips.

Personally, I've never run this kit but have installed them on a few friends trucks. Honestly, I think it's a solid option to gain some extra height and maintain your factory ride. Only drawbacks I see is that it does push your front tires outside of the fender wells pretty far. But, even though it's a 2wd, you do gain a considerable amount of ground clearance. All in all, it's a decent affordable option. Just know that you will have to change your front brake hoses, but they do provide new stainless ones in the kit

That's good to hear! All I'm looking for is ground clearance really just going for looks right now. I did talk to some people about the spindles and how the front wheels are pushed out further than the rear but nothing some wheel spacers can't fix for the rear. I do have on 1.25" spidertrax all around at the moment, if I do the spindles the front ones would come off...do you think that would be too thick of a spacer for the rear or do you think they'd be pretty even with the front?

No that should even it out just fine. We did pretty much the exact same setup on my buddies Tundra. Stance looks good, and truck rides just as it did when it rolled off the lot. I would go this route over a spacer lift any day.

Edit: Another thing to note is that at 4" this is a pretty big lift, so tire size will be something to think about. That said, since the front tires will be pushed out, you may run into some interference with the tire and fender flare... Also, the amount of ground clearance up front is pretty crazy!

Did you use a 2" block in the rear? I've seen some Tacomas on dealer sites with this lift on and a 2" block in the rear and it still looks like they have a lean to it. I'm sure a 2in rear will be fine for me just wanted to see if the Tundra ended up the same way or was pretty leveled out.

Well right now I have my stock T-Force wheels w/285/70/17 and a 2inch front spacer and I don't rub on the cab just a little on the fender well but only when the suspension flexes or coming off a steep driveway or something. I will eventually get new wheels with a better offset. The biggest I want to go is 18x12 and some 33's. But that will be after the lift. Do you happen to have pictures of the way your buddies tundra came out?

I believe we used a 3 inch block with his and it sits pretty level. Let me see if I can dig up some pics.. With a 2 inch block, the ass end will definitely be lower than the front.

I figured lol I'll see which way I decide to go. I bought some Bilstein standard length rear shocks from a member here just yesterday so if I go with Spindles I'll use just the 2" block and later go with a 3"block with extended length shocks.

Just a heads up, with the 2" block, the standard length shocks are still going to be too short.

You think so? A few people here said the standard length will work up to a 2" rear lift...I talked to Marie with Headstrong and was told that the standard length will be okay with a max of 2" and anything after that I'd need extended length....I mean idk much about lifts so I'll have to ask some vendors.

Here you go.. 887's with 2nd gen 5100's and HS AAL with out the overload leaf. Tires are 265/65/18. Have 285/70/17's with new
    wheels on the way..

Sits perfectly level and rides great.

This wheel/tire set will be for sale if any in the Philadelphia area is interested.
