That is not accurate information at all. Too short based on your personal experience and knowledge, or are you simply passing on something you heard from another member.

Its not an ideal combo as you will fully extend quicker when drooping the rear out, but if you don't do much offroading and nothing too aggressive, the standards 5100 work just fine. There are Manufacturers that actually pair the standards with the 2" blocks and sell this combo as a kit.

The thing that most need to keep in mind is the rear shocks in these trucks are the limiting factor for droop. In other words when the rear is fully extended its the shocks that are supporting the weight of the rear and preventing it from drooping out any further.

Thanks, but passing along info from personal experience.. Will it "work" yes, technically it will. But you will be topping out the shocks often, which of course will dramatically shorten the lifespan of the shock. Not to mention the annoyance of constantly topping out said shock. Again, I honestly don't care what people do with their truck. Their truck their money, just sharing my personal experience.

I find it interesting other than dampening the stock TRD OR shock is the same length and travel as the 5100.

    Fully extending them often, really?
I guess if you always do some slow rock crawling where you fully extend the rear a bunch, but I can't see how you would do this often during normal day to day driving.

I promise you, it doesn't take much suspension travel to fully extend those shocks once you stretch them with a 2" block.. We aren't talking about a ton of travel here after all.

    Are they though?
Don't believe Bilstein has the 4600 series #'s published. I know they do have 5100's and I believe they indicate they will accommodate up to 1.5" of lift. Its been a while since I have looked though.

Yep, actually quite familiar with these trucks

You stated they are "too short", I just simply expanded on this a bit more so those running this set-up can better determine whether or not this combo will work fine for their particular intended use.

Again though, not an ideal combo, we both agree on that.

Perhaps your definition of work fine and mine may differ, and that's "fine".. ;) But to me, limiting the travel of your suspension is not an example of it working fine. Will the shocks fit and dampen suspension travel, yes.. Will you get full travel and feel the shock top out, yes.. Pretty simple

Yeah...about that. Imagine when you off road and your rear leaf springs want to flex with standard length shocks. The outcome will not be good.

Okay everyone so just a reminder...I have a 2WD...not 4x4....I don't do any off-roading nor do I plan to with this truck....I do all highway and city driving....my biggest obstacle is speed bumps and potholes and sooometimes but rarely some curbs.....I will also be hauling a trailer with ATV's from time to time but don't plan to drive it into the soft dirt...

With this information can ya'll tell me if 4" spindles, 2" rear block and standard length rear shocks will be a good setup for now? I will eventually get extended length shocks later down the road or until I start to notice issues with the standard. If the 2" block gives the truck a lean then I will upsize to a 3" to make it level and for sure replace the standard length.

So for a daily driver/non-off road vehicle/hwy and city driving am I safe with standard length?

Running this kit with 888 coils, overload leaf taken out, and total chaos uca, wheels are 285/70/17 cooper STT Pro on scs wheels. Rubbing pretty bad on the frame at full crank and reverse, and reallllly bad when I'm turning and hit a bump of course. Shop is saying there is nothing they can do. Any suggestions? Heard sometimes if you use the stock UCA it will fix this but want to hear some opinions. Sorry for the bad picture, iPhone life.

Looks like a cmc is in order if you want to stay with the 285's and eliminate rub.

Even driving around the city with a 2" block, your rear end will bottom out going over train tracks or little bumps (depending on your speed). I had 1" block on stock shocks and it rides smooth throughout but when you go over a speedbump... Be ready for that bottoming out pop

Pretty much exactly what I'm trying to say.. Don't have to be a "hardcore off roader" to top out those shocks.

Thanks for all the input guys. I'll just have to see how it rides once I do get my lift going.
