    9 years is long enough for me. I've already received 5 job offers making more than the Air Force pays me.

    Thanks for the tip. I was supposed to go to Korea, but that was cancelled so I'm looking to Palace Chase and go reserves for a while, may til retirement. So I'm not completely "leaving" but leaving active duty.

    I'm just ready for something different. The Air Force has become almost... stupid. The arbitrary rules and changes for nothing more than for someone to say "I changed a thing" and get Air Force brownie points when the made a change but no improvement. I've been through the same training 4 times... if we just cut all the extra stupidity we could save people so much time, cut our manning and save the government billions every year. I joined the Air Force to do my job, but I end up being ordered to spend 3 hours on a Friday morning picking up trash for the Adopt a Highway program because 2 people signed my unit up. Those 2 people are both gone and we are stuck doing it at least once a month. Between commanders calls, random stupid events and everything else... I spend about half my time not even at work... I want to do a job where I actually do my job.
    //End Rant//
    ...For now...

    Miss the good old days of battling it out with the hadjis in Fallujah, but the Corps ain't the same as it was back then.

    Miss the fuckin brotherhood that the Infantry had too.

    That's it pretty much.

    Yeah, I would still be working with the military, just not in uniform.

    Since we're on military talk:

    About Dec 2014 I talked a friend of mine who was having mental health issues into applying for VA benefits. I fought with him, and his shit is legit, so I helped him with the paperwork as much as I could.

    Dude just called me today and they made him 100% and permanent. He's legitly been homeless 5 or 6 times and currently is living in his car & showering at the gym, but wouldn't come to AZ to live with us because he was trying to stay near his grandma in a nursing home. He also wouldn't try to get his claim expedited for a hardship because there's other guys in the system ahead of him. He's got about $70k in backpay coming to him next week, have never heard a hardened warrior sob over being so thankful. Glad he's getting his & is going to try to get some mental health.

    Man that's great that you helped him out. To many vets don't get the help they need.

    The Air Force is hemorrhaging intel right now, most of my co-workers are ready to leave.

    We're "overmanned" because people refuse to update the numbers, we have entire units that are non-deployable because of their manning. The Pentagon has already said that they want to hire several thousand more intelligence analysts but it takes forever to get things moving. Even with the last round of "force shaping" when they got rid of 135 1N1s they admitted that they cut too many.

    Oh yeah, morale of the story was that if you rate benefits, then apply for them because you may seriously need them one day

    Military is what you make of it. Although a lot of it is chance and luck, most of success in the military is equivalent to the effort you put in. Take control of your career before someone else does it for you.

    I'm an Analyst as well but not imagery.

    I've also played with the thought of getting out but insurance is killer and I have three little ones so it would be difficult to justify it
