Yeah. Roll back seems to be easier to remove than the tri-fold.

so 2017 TRD sport, dbl cab , MSRP 36000(and change),don't have ppr work yet, -1000 dealer ? =35 k, traded a 2007 TRD OFF road dbl cab, 92000 mi (only), -13.5K=21.5 K, +taxes, fees etc etc gets it to 24 K out the door, + they give me a 424$ roof rack no charge, installed for nothing , they wanted to give me 11.5 k for trade at first, said 13.5 or I walk, they said ok, blue book had the trade value at between 13-15 k depending on condition, the thing is the trade has the new frame and springs also

so what do you think ? I always feel like I could have done better(buyer's remorse), also was a cash deal

If you're happy with the purchase that is fine.
Dealerships always try to low ball you when you have a trade. They are going to give you fair Kelley blue book value at best even if your trade is in excellent condition. Big dealerships are a huge rip off when it comes to buy your trade.
    https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inven...e_0&isRecentSearchView=true#listing=164506716
But then again you didn't get robbed too bad as this 2007 Tacoma TRD sport with 120,000 miles list price is $14,600.

I am shocked they didn't give you more than a $1000 discount on the sale price of the new truck since they low balled you on your trade but they did give you a free roof rack.

Ironically, they are less less likely to give cash buyers a great deal since the finance manager doesn't make any commission for setup the financing and they know that the cash buyer isn't going to buy their extended warranties, tire protection, gap insurance, low jack, or any of that BS.

If you happy with the truck that what matters.

^ the sales manageress was blah blah blah, the condition of the trade, mostly cosmetic stuff in my opinion, rusted out somewhat rear bumper, scratches and dings, tires cracked, etc, she had a good spiel, the thing was when they threw in the roof rack at the end when I mentioned it, I was like ?

Yeah sales managers want to steal your trade. The fair market value of your 2007 Tacoma is still about $18000 and they bought it from you $13,500. They have the potential to make $4500 off your trade.
They will initially list it for $18000 and after 30 days they will drop the price to $17,000 and drop it another $1000 if it doesn't sell within 60 days. Still make $2500 profit if it takes 60 days to sell.

Preowned vehicle sales is pure profit for dealerships.

the 14.6 k taco there was cleaner than mine, so I can't complain too much i guess, would have liked in hindsight for them to throw in some running boards also, Ha ha

I'm justifying it to myself also as the 2007 was 26k out the door with a 4k trade, at a 30k msrp. It was a spur of the moment deal also as I didnt do a whole lot of looking

Depreciation only costed you $1250 a year over 10 years so that's pretty good consider the fact that most domestic brand vehicles lose $3000-5000 a year in value.
My cousin bought a 2014 Chrysler 200 for $25k and trade it in for a Honda Pilot 6 months ago and only got $9k trade in for it. Depreciation costed him $5300 a year over 3 years. Chrysler vehicles have terrible depreciation.

He needed a bigger vehicle since he is expecting twins and he already has one kid.

Just paid $37,900, about $400 over invoice, for a TRD Sport DC LB with HH package. Seemed like a good price when I signed on the dotted line (purchase order; delivery in March, but I'm in no hurry). Got $19,500 trade-in on my 2015 Subaru Outback Premium Edition, which was about $1,500 less than KBB and NADA said I would get through a private party sale. Tax savings on the trade-in, at 9.9%, more than offset the higher price I might have obtained through a private sale. Or so goes my thinking.

Fair price or did I get hosed? Felt like a fair price (Costco deal) after 3 hours with my Lake City Seattle dealer / salesman.

Depends, look through the prices here and see how you feel.

I paid $36,600 for a DCSB OR with prem&Tech and accessories. My OTD price was $40k

The costco prices were a rip when I looked, negotiated my own deal.

From reading all the post on pricing I think it's a safe bet to say that a good deal is at or close to MSRP OTD. The people that got way below MRSP are those special occasions where it was the last one on lot or in those lines plus the State of purchase seems to play a big role in pricing and taxes or spent a long time and hard work. The dealers here in SoCal are sharks.

I think you got the short end of the stick on your trade in -- of course if it was hi mileage? Also I am biased here as we love our 15 Limited Outback!

Yeah. We definitely pay more than the guys back east. I'd say anywhere under 38-39k OTD and you did alright with all the features you're looking for.

That insane resale value is why I could never in a million years switch to Chevy, Nissan or Ford.

Thanks to all for your replies. Helpful feedback.

To the first respondent to my post: mine is a LB, yours a SB. So I think our results are comparable.

To the respondent with the Outback: Yep, mine has high miles (37K+) in just under 2 years of ownership. And it has a cracked windshield that I won't have to deal with through my insurance. Plus it's filthy from my last couple of bird hunting trips, which I won't have to address before I leave it with the dealer when my Taco arrives. I'll add another 1-2K miles before I have turn it into the dealer when my Taco arrives.

To the respondent touting the resale value: My 2007 DC LB cost me approx. $30K and returned $16.3K when I sold it after 7.75 years (and 116K miles) of use. Those are hard results to beat in my layman's opinion.

I'm really looking forward to my new truck's arrival. It's got so many more features than my last Taco, the 2007 DC LB.

Good forum with lots of useful information!
