Well, I did it!!!!

I'm on E rates tires (meant for full size) 32". And my truck drives just as it did before.

 

I bought my truck and threw rims and tires on the next day, I have no idea how it feels with stock tires but I think I got slowed down a lot on take off'a shit with a dirt bike in the back I have like zero power

 

Huh.. that's weird, I think. I haven't noticed any loss of power with these tires.

 

I have a friend that was running 37's on his stock Nissan Hardbody 4 banger. Don't expect to get anywhere quick, but it'll work. Heck, I dont even consider my SC'd 4.0 with 32's quick. But I drive it like its intended. Like a truck. It hauls stuff and does occasional towing.

Oh BTW. Sweet first gen. First gens are awesome IMO. Very well built. Boxed in frame and plenty of power for the weight of the truck. My dad has a stock 04. Plus just helped that same friend with the Nissan Hardbody put long travel on his 04. Both great trucks.

I went with the 26" piece from Marlin Crawler. Made in the USA and is a well built unit.
As for 33" or 34" tires, the 2.7 can handle it with the proper gearing.

I'm running 33"s with 5.29's and an A340F auto trans... which sucks, but a MT will/ would be much better.

When I had my trans rebuilt, I had a mild shift kit installed.
I highly recommend that in the future for those with the auto trans.

 

So technically its not the same setup then. You've got 5100s and I've got nitro sport shocks. Are you level or is there rake in the rear? Hard to tell in pics. So in the back you got lift from 2" AAL, 1" shackles, and 1" from the 5100s correct? So 4" total? And is the front 4"? Mine right now from the ground to wheel wells all 4 sides are exactly at 38". By any chance could you measure yours plz?

 

1" shackles aren't on yet. I just ordered them because I ended up with bro lean. From my knowledge, shocks do not give lift. I got 2" from the AAL, I will get 1" from shackles, and 0 from 5100's.

 

I could of swore I read somewhere that 5100 rear shocks gave some lift. Hmmmm. My bad says you have shackles on now. Prolly meant to say on the way now.

 

My bad. Haha. 5100's give more travel for larger lifts. So the shock itself is longer.

 

So that in turn produces some lift right? Sry new to this whole lifting trucks thing.

 

Anyway you could measure from the ground to tye wheel wells when you get a chance? I also have BFG ko2 32s

 

those retrofits how much did they run you? you do the work yourself?

I remember when I ordered my kit, I had trouble sleeping that night cuz I spent so much money lmfao. I have a hard time making big purchases but in the end its totally worth it are you gonna run UCAs too?

 

I have the same exact tires and same size. I'm 39.5 in the front, 38 in the rear. Hence why I need the shackles.

And they provide lift. Longer shocks just allow you to have more trave when lifting.

 

I picked these up off a buddy for $300. His truck got totaled and he ended up with a 2nd gen. So.

 

Had toytec assemble them for an extra $100. Makes for a quicker/easier install. Plus they ship with new top plate mounts, washers, and bushings. Couldn't pass it up. I may do ucas in the future. Really I'd like to get a dakar leaf pack 1st

 

That's not a bad deal considering mine was around $1,000 for everything including shipping. I guess I still need to get a brake line extension too???????

 

yea I paid like $1700 cuz I got the total chaos UCAs. Ive fully flexed my rear and haven't had an issue with the brake line (I don't think lol) but its a good investment, from what I've heard it make the brakes feel really nice too since its stainless, I should probably get one myself too. Im not sure about the fronts, the rear seems more important.
