Long Travel BS Thread

18" Kings. Guessing they'll be tucked in like this guys setup: "I run 16" king coilovers and get about 19" of usable travel out of the rear."

18's probably a little long for the trailing arms anyways. Running pro 2 style links with the 18's will put them pretty far out of the bed unless you put an extreme angle on them, but should definetly get you your 20". Is still try to get the shop to build you what you asked for, but if you feel like you're getting what your paying for it is your truck and should still be a blast to drive.

 

Yea that's gonna be a big coilover in there.

Cool though. I was just curious. Id rather do trailing arms even with a 3 link personally to run a smaller bed cage and coilover.

I'm sure it'll be fine though.

Just my two cents brother but don't settle for something other than what you initially agreed upon with a shop. It's way more expensive in the long run to redo a ton of work. Don't let it leave the shop until your happy with it.

 

Critiques for the cage that's attached to the body (does not contact frame at all), in the event of a rollover?

 

its got a lot of joints to fail (although i have never seen one of them fail) I cant tell but if its got some good size floor plates i am sure its ok for a slow roll over. i would also like to see the seats attached to the cage, but thats just me

they are afraid of tube junctions I see. I guess it's better than a hole in the head. barely. I am a fan of the tin work on the roof. looks fancy.

Yup. Stolen off of facebook. @jeffz0rz that was the local guy I almost went with instead of you. Then when he insisted Tacom frames were fully boxed and said he'd never installed an SUA kit I went elsewhere lol. I asked him why it wasnt tied to the frame or if it was welded to the body and he said he used "huge sandwich plates on the body to hold it in place".

 

That's how cages are built in unibody cars that go pretty darn fast but landing them on the frame will always be the go-to method.

 

The on on the left is what that cage went in. Dude builds some mean stuff. They aren't afraid of junctions nor for apperiances just FYI

 

Yup. Hes also the guys that quoted me a certain price for a regear, and then two months later wanted over 1k more, and when I asked why he was charging $1300 for an ARB locker when it was "8-950$" before and I could get the same thing anywhere else for about $950, he said "you don't know what you're buying". Ok, guy, and you won't be getting my business.

 

did you call him on the weekend when he was trying to do something esle? probably what that extra 1k was for

 

Nope, I messaged him on FB and texted him and got a FB response about a week later (BTW he probably spends more time on FB and Insta than working)

yea he likes to show his stuff, probably why hes got a pretty nice shop and alot of work going. hes a chill dude, was with us at hammers last year

 

Hey to each their own. I wouldn't do business with him after the way he talked to me incorrectly about my own truck and the last time I met him he was to cool for school and I had to walk away just rolling my eyes. When you compliment someones truck and they are metaphorically buffing their fingers on their chest about it to you, its hard to hold a conversation. Just my opinion though, hate away, I'll fade off in to the mist again
