Anyone here try selling on e-bay and get scammed?

I had tried selling my truck on ebay, and had one person try to scam me into getting my paypal account info, when I clearly said cash or cashier's check.

This person refused to give me a contact info and just wanted to send an agent to pick the truck up.

Anyone else have to deal with this kind of B.S.? What did you end up doing?

Yeah I had the exact same thing happen when I tried to sell my old truck. I contacted the eBay fraud department and gave them the 'buyers' information, but luckily it just wasted some time, instead of losing my truck and no money.

I called and filed a report with ebay. Is there any legal action that can be taken. As in authorities to investigate this? I glad you didn't lose anything over it, just time

Did you end up selling it on ebay, or did you sell by other means?

Unless you lost money or property, no one will investigate or chase them down

It's similar to those Craigslist scams where they say they'll pay you above the list price and shipping to ship it to them and they will send payment through paypal

I called a craigslist seller in Florida, paid PayPal, and got the item as promised.
    Common Courtesy.

That's local to me, and I know the officers who worked the case

Never go to a house alone for a craigslist deal

I've bought a couple of cars on Ebay. Always had a good experience. Met the seller half way once and went to the sellers house with a trailer the next time. If you're the seller you are always covered as long as you follow the rules and let all transactions go through Ebay and Paypal.

I sold a motorcycle on Craig's list and one reponse I received was the same as yours...
The story was; I'm interested in your bike willing to pay asking price. I am an off shore oil rig worker and can't see it in person but will send my acquisition agent to pay you and pick up the bike.

Nice try but the grammar hasn't been raped enough to be truly a Nigerian prince.

I should know, I'm a barrister and executer of a will and final testimate for a long lost relative of yours who has one million dollar monies of fortune in bank vault that has been passed to you. Oh lucky day for you my friend!

All we needs is the banks account (checking & routing) information along with social security code for you to claim monies and much riches for you.

I may have, in another time, purposely baited and messed with some of these guys as a hobby...
