Yea, good on her for owning up. I had similar fate about a month ago by some jackass in a yellow vehicle and they didn't stay. All they left behind was some yellow paint, a destroyed rear bumper, busted taillight, a crinkled left side of bed, and a tail gate that won't open. I'm going to get a plate bumper to replace though, so hopefully if it happens again they'll get more damage than they cause.

I know you're not keen on plate bumpers but Mobtown makes a internal hitch in their bumper and it looks beefier than stock.

I am scheduled to drop my truck off on the 23rd. Today, the shop is ordering the parts they know need to be replaced. In a couple hours, I'm going up to Eugene to pick up the rental. The insurance company is covering the rental cost until my truck is finished. Don't know what the rental will be, but it will be a truck of some sort that has a tow rating of 5k+ (insurance agreed to the upgrade on their dime) since I need something that is capable of towing and the Corolla they initially authorized isn't up to the task of doing what I need my truck to do.
I will be getting the pre/post repair vehicle quotes done so I can file for the deminished value since this is the only wreck my truck has been in (verified on carfax).
I do have to say, the insurance company has been quick and courteous after I called and pushed a little bit.
I'll report back this evening on what the rental is. For now, the truck is parked so I don't have to worry about my tire hitting the mudflap and fender liner again like it did when I drove out of the driveway at the shop.

I'm dropping it off at Clint Newell Toyota.
Rental is a 2016 Ram 2500HD DCSB 4wd. Gas/auto. Got 18.2mpg @65mph. If anyone is considering buying one, DON'T. I wouldn't be surprised if that damn thing didn't come with suspension. But, it will go where I need to go and will tow the Airstream from storage without rubbing the mudflap and fender liner.

Well, only thing I noticed that was better towing the Airstream is the width (better vision in the mirrors), and hill hold. Hooking up is quicker in the Tacoma thanks to my back up camera.

Echoing what's been said, definitely decent that she stayed to own up to her mistake. Had some dunce do something similar in a parking lot a couple years ago. Watched the whole thing happen, he came inside with no intention of notifying me. I went outside not expecting too much damage by what I witnessed, but he did force the rear bumper corner into the rear fender which scratched down to bare metal, scuffed the rear tail light and left a big ole green skid down the bedside from tail light to fender flare.

Thinking back he might have just assumed he traded a little paint and no harm done but still. He actually fucked the whole side of his dog shit Astro van. Or maybe it was already like that idk.

Figured I'd give an update. Tacoma is sitting pretty in the garage all washed up and shiny. Drop off is Monday at 8am. Used the down time to remove the air setup I had and try to figure out where to put the air horns (thinking behind the front bumper, but I need to get a bracket welded to the bases because they have grooves instead of holes for the bolts and I don't feel like running over my own horns.
I washed the Ram today. Holy crap. I thought my truck had a lot of paint issues. I stopped counting at 20 inclusions just on the hood, there is orange peel all over the place.
Anyways. The guy who was suppose to meet me at the dealer to do an appraisal called and said he wouldn't be able to. Dealer gave me an unseen appraisal of $9k for trade in if I wanted to upgrade to the new Tundra Off-Road.

    Here's my story,
I had a 2014 dcsb, went in for an oil change, got suckered by a salesman " looking to make room" on a 2016. Sweet looking truck( dcsb Trd off road, quicksand), but I couldn't get over the way the tranny worked! Just awful! And could have done without the creeper mode and multi terrain, both seemed useless and overkill. Well, buyers remorse set in, and I resigned to live with it. The universe had other plans.
A drunk driver plowed through my front yard, and took out my son's corolla and my truck in one shot, both totalled! I had made one payment!
The drunk driver tried to pull away, got hung up on my step bars, and tore up my driveway and yard in the process. He wrangled his way free, took off down the road, only to ditch his vehicle at a local watering hole. He went to the police the next day, and reported the accident, not his involvement, just that his vehicle was involved! Both my neighbor and I saw him! Wotta douche!
(Ironically, his vehicle was a 2006 Tacoma! It took a beating, and still drove away!)
He had state minimum insurance, so my insurance company paid for everything, as I was in bed when it happened, no fault and no rise in costs( well see about that)
Last word is he denied all charges against him, going to court next month. This happened a week before Thanksgiving.
    It's almost February.
Here's to hoping this asshole gets what's coming to him.IMG_20160919_125055536_HDR.jpg

Ouch. That hurts to look at. Only color I think makes them look good too.
I was waiting for him to get his estimate done on my trucks value and was listening to a sales woman telling some guy over the phone how much better the new engine and tranny are. How they have a lot more power and better fuel economy because of how the tranny works. They said they could get me in a new Tacoma in a couple hours and would just deal with my truck when it got out of the shop. They seemed surprised when I said no chance in hell.

Couldn't agree more!! I would make them contact their insurance right there at the scene and provide their statement before letting them leave!!! I learned this lesson the hard way too! Got rear-ended about a year ago. At the scene the guy admitted complete liability and was very apologetic. But then refused to cooperate with his insurance Co. I provided my statement and jumped through all their hoops. But they refused to take liability until they talked to their client, who was completely snowballing them. I finally grew frustrated of waiting to get me truck fixed, so I ran the claim through my insurance, eating my $500 deductible. Took almost four months before they finally paid my insurance company back and I was refunded my deductible!

Utah law requires an insurance company to determine liability and either accept or refuse liability within 30 days.

Dudes insurance only paid mine after my insurance sent them a legal notice and informed them of their intent to sue them... can't remember the technical terms they called it at the moment.

Yeah. I was lucky that it wasn't at Walmart. They don't have cameras that cover the parking lot well. Thankfully, Coastals cameras were angled just right. The video I posted is cropped to not show the driver or witnesses. The full length video (which I sent her insurance co) shows her looking at her car and my truck then talking with one of the witnesses. Clear enough that I could visually match her face in the video to her drivers license.
But, it's set to get fixed and they have me in a rental that can and has been doing what I use my truck for. So, for now I am not as pissed off. We'll see how the body shop does.
And while I haven't had to get my insurance agent working on it, she is following what is going on and is ready to step in if needed.

Oh, there have been a few close calls. Some before I got the camera, some that were not in the cameras view.

Drove by the shop when I was in town. Looks like they are just waiting on the bumper. Didnt get out to look, but driving by, the bedside looks straight with a new flare. Of course I'll be inspecting it when they call and say its done.

Just talked with the body shop. Truck is done, except for the alignment. Said that should get done tomorrow and it will be ready to pick up.

Got the truck back. They did indeed use bondo to sculpt the fender. So I will have to talk with the insurance co about that. There is a little bit of visual distortion if you know where to look. New flare with pad, new brackets and hardware, bumper was straightened/sand blasted/coated with spray-on bedliner. Have to go and hook my backup camera since they left the ground wire hanging. I'll let the truck dry out a little bit then I'll get to work getting the lights back in and then onto the OBA.
Ins co closed at 4:30 central time, so I'll be calling next week.
