Yeah. Was riding at Barona awhile back, bike felt hot and had an odd smell so I pulled off the track, let the bike cool down and checked my coolant and it was empty. Filled it up with all the water I had and before I knew it it was empty again. I could see the water coming down the right crank cover but couldn't identify exactly where it was coming from. Packed up, went home and haven't cracked it open to fix it since I haven't been able to ride anyways. I'm thinking of getting some of that UV dye and pouring some water in so I can see where the leak is coming from. Fix it, fill it with engine ice, change the oil, clean the carb and back in action.

Yup, there is a small hole under the water pump on the case cover and that outer seal and shaft wear out, super common problem, like I said some people replace them the wrong direction and they fail pretty quickly. I've done it probably 15 times, lemme know if I can help.

I think that's where it's coming from. I thought I had cracked the case somewhere. I have the full SM but if I get in there and get confused I'll take some pictures and recruit your help. Thank you!

Anytime bud! I used to race Hondas so I have a lot of experience with them!

If the pump shaft isnt too grooved it may be reusable. However when I replace them now I do the shaft, bearing, and both seals (oil and water) or the bearing will allow it to walk and leak again.

You are going to need to pull the big clutch side case cover off so get a gasket for that too, BTW, I may even have one but might be for a 250..

I live close to the 24HR fitness near Camino Del Rio N. and went to take a look about 4PM on friday to see the damage, 2 hours later I went back and there was an additional car trapped. Some stupid lady in a MB tried several times to drive through until her engine stalled out (Probably Hydrolocked). People can be so.... stupid sometimes, seriously when you see cars submerged up to the roof with water you don't go through (unless you have a snorkel).

I wonder if her plan all along was to file a claim with her insurance in order to get a new car.

    Makes you wonder doesn't it?

    My guess is ignorance.

Last January, a lady I know who is otherwise smart, hydrolocked her car, because she doesn't have a clue how a car works. lol

There are some pretty stupid people out there. Watching the new last night they showed a bunch of cars under water by the fashion valley parking structure by the river....I was thinking the same thing that the people must have driven down there a parked in spots where they knew their cars would be flooded to get them totaled out.

I had a base model Ford Focus as a rental in Virginia a couple months ago. Well long story short the hurricane rolled in quicker than expected. I had the little turd windshield deep in water. That dang car couldn't be destroyed.
