Oh yeah.. that's weird. I would always bottom out my old 10" shocks when wheeling(this was a really long time ago). But anything shorter will limit my droop. Basically the stock shock location is crap.

7100 short bodies would be better choice in factory mounts.

Looks like the short bodies come in only remote reservoir, which are $200 a pop. Not really worth the extra inch of downtravel

@thunderone were you able to remove the bushings that come with the shocks without a press?

Yeah, just pry them out with a flathead a little, then when they're sorta halfway out just stick the screwdriver on the end and tap it the rest of the way out with a hammer or something, they're rubber so it take about 10 seconds to do each one

Cool, thanks for the quick response and the info.

Going to give these a try with my Alcans since my Rancho shocks are end-of-life

That seams like a good route to go. I have a friend with a 5,000+ pound Xterra with custom Alcans. That thing is like a Caddy on the trials.

Shocks finally arrived and I installed them last night. They are definitely softer than the Rancho RS5000s I had and I'm pleased with the ride quality when paired with my Alcans

Thanks for all the info, @thunderone!

Are the linked bushings necessary? I have the shocks, just forgot to order the bushings.

yes, the bushings that come on the shocks have an ID that is too small.
