This was my evolution as well - for wading at least.

For pond fishing my my canoe I can bring the kitchen sink. I wear my sling pack - but keep more stuff in one of those under seat storage bags.

Got the drift boat leak checked. It held water for 2 days. I would think it should do a good job keeping water out.

Pumping it dry so I can move it back inside.

Gotta wait for a couple buds to show up so I can flip it upside down. I can install the chine trim then.IMG_20170119_141412.jpg

Field based but I am sure there will be some lab/cubicle time in the mix. I know the first year will be heavily field oriented as they want me to get familiar with the land, animals and interacting with the public.

I'll do a build thread once I'm done with this thing. For now I'll just post in TW live and here threads if no one minds.

I got one of the chines done. The boat is upside down. No need to turn your phone IMG_20170120_154633.jpg IMG_20170120_154643.jpg IMG_20170120_165359.jpg

Anyone tried to tie flies with things you find around the house? I tried tying my first today with a few things I found and with no vise or tools. It looks pretty rough but I thought it would be interesting to see if anyone else on here has tried to tie flies from household materials. I'm not sure what I was going for haha.

Nah, I don't have many hooks or feathers just laying around the house!! I bet you a big brown would slurp that thing down. It looks buggy.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
I'm taking the family over to the White River at some point in the next few weeks. Anyone have suggestion on places to stay between Guion & Norfork Arkansas?

Cabin or hotel since preggo woman thinks she can't handle camping out in a tent now.

I havent tied without a vise but that bug you whipped up will hunt. Try it during a stonefly hatch.

I'll probably go try it out today depending on the rain. I haven't been doing so well on the dries lately though.

I am thinking about getting a vise and some tools and start tying. It isn't really cheaper than paying ~$2 for a fly, but it passes the time and was pretty satisfying.

Need some sun for dries to come out and play. This time of year in PA, I stick with nymphs and buggers, unless the sun comes out and some midges decide to hatch.

Last weekend was fairly warm here and a week after 7 inches of snow so I thought dries would be the trick because fish were coming to the surface. Didn't catch anything with dries or nymphs, they were being very picky over something.
