1st Gen Stock Bumper Winch Mount

I just installed a custom stock bumper winch mount and wanted to share with the community. The winch mount was designed by Evan Hasse (TacoRex) of L.R.FAB and you can view his original post here.

The mount came unpainted, here is a picture of it as shipped. It has two heavy duty shackle mounts underneath.



It was then primed and painted...

The front bumper and skid plate were removed
The winch mount was then fitted and the bumper was trimmed
A substantial amount of plastic was removed from the bottom of the front bumper

The winch was installed into the mount and connected

The bumper was reattached and skid plate remounted. In all, it took about 5 hours to complete and I'm very satisfied with the results. It's a clean looking alternative if you're looking to keep a stock look. The winch used was a Smittybilt 98495 XRC Synthetic Rope

Looks awesome! Idk why but i always thought the fairlead part came out of the opening on the valence not below it. Gonna have to put one of these on my wish list for when i finish up my suspension

 

If I didn't have a plate bumper, this would be perfect. I've always liked the hidden winch mounts.

Super clean. Well done tacorex. But the real question is how much does it bench? (First photo in thread)

 

Pretty much like what I built but more fancy. Except it looks like your sits under the frame. Clearance and approach angle was very important to me so I installed mine in line with the frame. Nice work.

 

How many bolts holds this mount to the frame? It looks like 3 per side from the pics.

 

3 per side, two from the bottom and one from the front. Fits exactly where Toyota subframe was bolted in.

 

My clearances didn't change at all. The mount is slightly higher than the bottom of the front bumper and the skid plate mounts to it.

 

This is awesome. I love the idea of not having the winch add another 10 feet (exaggeration I know but that is what it feels like) to the front of my truck. adding to the list of mods I want.

 

How much? How much of the plastic valance did you have to cut out, all of the middle? I wonder if my Warn would fit, it looks a little bit taller but it might just be me. Will you take some more pictures when you get a chance and post them please?

 

I had to cut a 33" long and 2" high section out of the bottom and then slightly more to have the fair lead fully exposed in the middle, about anoth 1.5" x 7".

 

I am a little new to the forum but have been driving and working on trucks for 20 years. I really like the way yours turned out, Painting it black, etc... Made a lot of difference. If you don't mind just so I can see what it looks like up-close & Personal, would you take some more pictures for me like from the front, side, underneath, different angles and you can post them or email me at jwg212121@gmail.com I would really appreciate it. I have a winch right now but I don't was to mount it in front of the bumper on a big bracket that will get hung up on stuff and probably forget it's there when I go to park and bam, besides those weigh so much and I don't want to add much more weight to the truck. I have the 3.4 V-6, 4.10's Trd but I am used to V-8s This is the first V6 I have owned, I have owned 6 Chevys in the 8 years and one of them I kept for 3 of those years. I can really tell a difference, but I try to baby her but it just seems like when I have gotten down on it the couple times I did, I was a little disappointed. Sorry for going on and on.

I am very interested in this. As far as I've seen, no one else produces one.

 

That looks really good. I have a Warn M6000 it looks to be about the same size as the Smitty so it shouldn't be a problem, I will just have to move the box/plug like you did. Mine sits on-top of the winch motor right now. If you get a chance to take some more pictures I would love to see it from a coupe different angles up close. Guess I'm going to have to start putting a little $$ away here and there so I can get one.
