RI Trooper just gave me a seat belt ticket even though my belt was on the whole time. What sucks is fighting it costs add much as the ticket itself. I hate this state. Is Mass like this?

 

I don't believe it's a primary offense in MA.

Yes but is a moving violation? If it is then it is worth fighting it so your insurance doesn't go up.

 

Had the same thing happen to me in NJ years ago. Officer basically told me to take that ticket or he would write another for worse. He said I should have thanked him.

I don't think it is. Ticket is for $44. Last time I fought a ticket and won, court costs was $35 a decade ago. Cops know either way they get their money.

 

I'd rather send money to the court than to have my insurance go up

 

From the sounds of it, a mod day would be more effective at this point.

That's too bad, I've been very fortunate with the cops I've been in contact with. The few bad apples are ruining for a lot of good cops unfortunately.

 

The only other time I received a ticket for a seat belt,I was told it's not a moving violation in RI. I paid it, and my insurance was not affected. I'll have to see if that's still the case. Otherwise,I gotta take a day out of work, and still pay court costs. Cops have been out in force all week. Pretty sure they're just fulfilling quota.

 

Technically MA needs another reason to stop you. Reality is they can easily make something up true or not

 

Too bad you don't have a camera that shows you from the cockpit..reasons like this are why people think police need body cams

 

I had my GoPro mounted. It's too bad it was facing out, and not at me.

 

I know nothing about a GoPro, but can it or any other cam be flipped like on a cell phone?

 

I could flip it on it's base, but it only has a lense on one side. In a situation like getting pulled over, I couldn't flip it fast enough without making it really obvious.

 

I figured as much. Crap. Then again they'd probly try and get you for recording them too
