How long of a life are people getting out of these shocks. I am having a lot of vibration in the rear before and after installing new tires. All terrain tire so not aggrasive. I've checked the drive shaft and all other rear end componites with no luck on figuring this out. One of my buddies told me he felt like my shocks were wore out but I just put the 5100's on about 100,000miles ago. Please help Im open to suggestions.

Shocks wont give you a vibration.

100,000 is beyond the life expectancy of any shock.

What kind of vibration? While driving? What speeds are you experiencing it at?

The vibration is in the seat and it shakes the passenger seat when no one is in it. The vibration starts around 65 and stays pretty constant up to 75-80. It's not a terrible vibration but more of annoyance. I had the balance in the tires checked again a couple days ago and they are perfectly zero with no counter balance.

Did these vibrations start when the truck was lifted?

No it's just started a month or so ago. I thought it was the tires which needed to be replaced any way

How many miles on the truck? Sounds like carrier bearing and/ or u-joints might be worn out. Worn out shock your going to feel on bumps and in your steering I would think

I got some similar vibes due to my carrier being pretty much toast

That's what I thought about the shocks. I wasn't very convinced but I can't really pin point where it is coming from. I guess I can start looking very close to my u-joints and carrier

Sounds about right Im in the same mileage area. Its a wear item and hitting the 200,000 its not uncommon for a few joints to be tired. Its probably worth a look. Hope I helped a bit

Edit: i will say that 100,000 on billies is a long life for those as well

My passenger seat shakes. Ive chalked it up to its a 1999 Tacoma, not a 2016 Lamborghini.

My car is at 127k miles and still dont have any vibrations from shocks. Given they are worn out and i have a new set coming in.

Just went through this. Take the tires back and have the shop put them on the balance machine without removing the weights first. That way you will find out which tire is out of balance even though it has balance weights on it. The tire that is out of balance with weights is the culprit. Some times the techs don't clean the rim properly and the glued weights fall off.

the OP was wondering if the shocks were the reason for the vibrations. So my reply was more towards saying its not i ahve 127K and no vibrations. maybe i could have wrote it better

    Carrier bearing,
maybe the wheel threw a weight.

But nice you got 100000 miles out of the shocks... that's incredible
